Xbox 1 S - audio output from headset no longer works

Thanks! This seems to have solved the problem. We had looked into factory resetting it and were worried about losing his games but it seems to be fine!

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused but rest assured we are here to help, we have seen this in the past
and since the issue could be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a >Soft
Factory Reset<
(while keeping games and apps, both controller and headset plugged in)
IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

• There is a stable network connection.
  
• The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)
  

Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup
lets do manual setup as this will push any and all updates through to the console, controller and headset. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

My windows default output is set to
"Headphones (Realtek(R) audio)"

Also I tried streaming again and now there is no audio at all, However, everything else still works

Strange...it should be outputting audio to your headset if it is displaying the Windows global setting

Not sure what else to suggest really as streaming from the console is not something I know much about. It's could be the console companion not working properly (wouldn't be surprising given it's no longer supported)

Having just had a quick look around the 'net for possible solutions, have you tried changing the audio output in the Xbox settings? I have seen reports where people with no audio changed the audio output from Stereo to Bistream solved it.

You have an older Xbox 360 model (pre May 2010), so there will not be a digital optical output built directly into your Xbox 360 that you will need in order to connect your surround stereo headset.

First, check to see if your TV has an digital optical output, often labeled 'S/PDIF'. If your TV has a digital optical output, you can plug the optical cable directly into this jack for game audio. Note: Check your TV manual to see if it supports Dolby Digital.

If your TV does not have a digital audio output, you will need to obtain the Audio Adapter Cable to work alongside the HDMI connection. The HDMI connection will send digital video and digital audio to your TV, while the Xbox 360 Audio Adapter will give you
the optical digital audio jack you need to connect from the Xbox 360 to your headset.

Currently there is a Mic Monitoring Function for Headsets on the Xbox One. However certain headsets run differently and must be adjusted through the headset program before connecting to the Xbox.

If you hear everyone else in your party echo when in party chat, it is likely due to the Xbox One being set to output party chat audio to both speakers and the headset at the same time.



To change this setting:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select General
4. Select Volume & audio output
5. Select Party chat output
6. Select Headset

You should no longer hear the echo.
