Xbox 1 not working properly

My son's xbox has been playing up for a while now. Sometimes it freezes and he has to restart it, most of the time when he's trying to load a game it says that its taken too long to load and he can't play it. I've already gone in to the settings and reset
the console, but the same thing is still happening. What else can I do??

It was a soft reset keeping games and apps. Won't doing a full reset delete his games or progress within his games? How will I know if there are corrupted game files? I'm sorry, I just don't understand.

Has he joined the Xbox Insider Preview program? If he has, this can cause issues with the console due to the OSU being a beta version.

You could try doing a factory reset.

Open the guide, go to settings, system, console info, reset console and reset keeping all games and apps. You will need to know the email address and password for his account.

on the main dashboard press start on the game disk picture, go down to "manage game and add on's" then select "reserved space" and delete this, restart the game. i hope this helps.

Did you do a full reset of the console and wipe it entirely or did you do a soft reset keeping games and apps? If you have corrupted game files and you're keeping the games and apps you're just reinstalling the same issue. You may have to do a full reset
to resolve this

No, he hasn't joined that.

I did already do a reset that way and he's still having problems with it. He's trying to play Forza Horizon 4 but it keeps saying it's taken too long to load. I'm just not sure what else to try to fix it.
