Xbox 1 Language and Region Problem on Setup

I am an expat living in Taiwan. When I moved to Taiwan I migrated my account and I now have a Taiwanese xbox live account.

Today I purchased an xbox 1, and when I select English as my language I cannot select Taiwan as my place of residence.

If I select English and then select a different region to Taiwan, will it conflict and cause problems with my live account once I setup and download the update?

I dont want to region lock it to another region on startup.

I cant read chinese so doing the set up in chinese seems problematic.

Can I just select English choose any region, update, sign in to live and go forward?

Please help, I am dying to connect this thing already.

Language Problem

There is a HUGE problem with the language setting on xbox. It's kind of region locked so you cant just choose the language you want. Check this thread on the feedback forum. I have the same problem. My Belgian xbox is mostly french...

To change the language setting on your Xbox 360 console, follow these steps:

Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and then select System Settings.

Select Console Settings.

Select Language and Locale.

Select Language.

Select the language that you want to use.

Change your Xbox LIVE account language

If your Xbox LIVE account is set to a country or region that supports multiple languages (for example, Canada), you can change your Xbox LIVE account language. Here’s how:

Go to Billing Account Information.

Sign in using your Microsoft account.

If multiple languages are supported for your country or region, select a language from Preferred Language.

Note The Preferred Language option does not appear if only one language is supported (for example, the United States).

Click Save.

It may take up to 24 hours for this change to take effect on your Xbox 360 console.

The country or region of an Xbox LIVE account cannot be changed once the account is created, but you can select a different language if more than one is available.

You can select English as language and choose a different locale without having problems with your account, except that you will not be able to use the marketplace. The use of the marketplace needs a proper payment option and billing address for the country
in which you are located. So for example you cannot use the UK marketplace with a taiwanese billing address. So you need to set Taiwan as locale for digital purchases and my then switch to an English local.

As having language and locale separated is an often requested feature you may want to vote and discuss on this feature at

xbox.uservoice.com/.../6028840-don-t-region-lock-the-languages as Microsoft collects feedback and suggestions on future improvements there.

Hello,

It goes by the language you have setup for your account region. If your region is in Italian and other languages are selectable you should be able to change that by following the directions
here.

If only Italian is selectable then that's all that will be available in terms of the language of your dashboard and the games you download from the marketplace.

The language is set during the console setup. The dashboard is specific to the region of your gamertag. If the Xbox One is region free then you could order it from anywhere in the world and it will work just the same.

Hi guys,

just setup the xbox one x Gears5 and I redeem most of the cores that come with the console but not one.

Gears of Wars 3 is code is saying that’s a language issue.

Since all the others worked perfectly I believe there is something wrong with this one.

Any tips?

Should.be noted that account region and actual region and language region MUST match

So if you are having england and french actual location and english language it wont work

Your account regions primary language must match your console language

Well that would be why I don't think you fully understand how consoles work

Xbox 360 games are region locked

Xbox one are region and language independent

Therefore any xbox 360 game you download will pick the language based on the primary language of your region

Changing language or region will most likely incur a region lock and yes language has to do with compatibility as some games are language specific
