Xbox 1 hard drive not working on Xbox X

so i bought the Xbox x and its really nice and i have a exterior 5 terabyte hard drive and it does not work on my Xbox x but still works on my Xbox 1 the hard drive is a seagate

When you say don't work, do you mean the console don't recognise the drive or you can't play games from it?

Also is it the Xbox One X or Series X?
