Xbox 1 Controller Not Turning On

I'm sorry to see any power issues with the controller! If the cord and a new battery pack isn't working, the controller likely needs to be replaced. If you're within 90 days for most regions (1 year for a few European regions), then you can set up a replacement
on our Device Support page. If you're outside of that,
contact us via phone or chat support to see if there's anything else we can do to assist. If not, then you would need to purchase a replacement.

Before updating the firmware, the PC will boot and the xbox 1 controller will turn on,

but now after the PC is booted, I have to press the xbox 1 controller button to start the controller

I think I have found the answer to your problem. I honestly thought it wouldn't work, but this did perfectly for me. Hopefully this will work for you and everyone who's having this problem.

1. Plug in your controller to your Xbox One via cable.

2. As the controller is turned on, hold the Xbox button and turn the controller off, not the console.

3. Have your Kinect plugged in and turned on and face it to your controller.

4. Turn on your controller and hold the controller sync button.

This should work for you as it worked for me. If not, try it this way with an added step:

1. Plug in your controller to your Xbox One via cable.

2. As the controller is turned on, hold the Xbox button and turn the controller off, not the console.

3. Have your Kinect plugged in and turned on and face it to your controller.

4. Press the sync button on the left-side of your Xbox One console.

5. Turn on your controller and hold the controller sync button, facing the controller towards your system and Kinect.

Have you tried this?

1. Turn off the console.
2. Turn on the console.
   Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn on the console by using the Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left light illuminated.
   
3. As the console starts, on the controller, press and hold Y while pulling the right trigger. The display settings are reset to the default settings, and then the console automatically restarts.
   

1. Remove any discs from the disc tray.

2. Turn off the console.

3. Turn on the console.

Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn on the console by using the Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left light illuminated.

4. As the console starts, on the controller, press and hold Y while pulling the right trigger. The display settings are reset to the default settings, and then the console automatically restarts.
