    Xbox 1 and router settings

First off, I have very limited techie knowledge (other than Bing).... I got a new router that offers 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Which is better??? I set mine up to the 5 GHz and it works fine..... I never had this option with my old router.

    -

My X1 is wireless, no ether net cable. In my advanced settings it shows Download of 31.32, Upload of 2.58, Latency of 39 ms, 0% packet loss.... (if this is relevant to 5 GHz??)

    :)

    Internet Conection

Most of us are having some problems with the internet conection error!
Heres is something I found to help you guys get rid of that problem:
1-Disable any firewall or security features on your router.
-Set port forwarding on your router to the IP address of your Xbox 360. This game uses port 3074 (UDP/TCP). Additionally Xbox LIVE requires ports 80, 53 TCP and 88, 53 UDP.
3-Place your Xbox 360 into the DMZ of your router.
4-Disconnect your router and try the game. If it works regularly at this point something about your router may not be completely compatible with the specific needs of this game. Check with your router manufacturer and Microsoft's Xbox Live Connection Issues page for additional steps that may need to be done to resolve the issue you are having. You can also verify that you have an Xbox Live compatible router.
And that's it guys , you should be ready to get some kills without any internet interruption! Xbox 1 and router settings
But I will keep you informed about the new Patches because they are working in that
So , good gaming Xbox 1 and router settings :D

The 5 ghz setting has less interference from other devices in your house that use 2.4 or lower signals. (Wireless speakers/chord less phones/ baby monitors/ microwaves ) etc.

So if you connect your X1 to the 5ghz your less likely to get disconnects from other things. The signal though may not have the same range as 2.4ghz.

5ghz also has lower penetration, so if your router has several walls to go through, that could impact performance. Otherwise 5ghz will give better speeds than 2.4ghz.

If you're using "Instant On", power cycling will switch it back to normal (Depending what your normal is.). I changed the name of my X1, assigned it a static I.P. though the router, then opened ports...have had a open N.A.T. since day one.

    Peace, J.R.

If you don't want to have to continually have to power cycle your console, you'll need to either enable UPnP (best method) or disable UPnP and open the ports found in this link on your routers admin page.

the settings help, but still don't work 100% of the time, i started off using UPNP, because it was the easiest option, that didn't work so i went on to using port forwarding, that didn't work so i put my X1 in a DMZ and still intermittently went to strict
NAT, but doing to triggers+ bumpers reset does the trick now.

I put mine in the DMZ after I was having trouble with Forza horizon 2 online. Been perfect for everything since I did that.

I dont think so. You really should try going wired and seeing what your latency result is and compare. Spec look good though.

I had to get a new router because my virgin media super hub 2 was rubbish for the xbox one so i got a netgear NightHawk R700. i use 5Ghz but sometimes find 5Ghz more prone to losing connection. prob with xbox one is sometimes it needs a port forward or DnZ
