XBOne / Optical Audio Out / Dolby Digital

I'm getting ready to purchase two XBOne consoles - ready for Titanfall - but I've learnt that they don't output Dolby Digital (both of my XB360s have TB wireless headsets that rely on this). I've also learnt that DD support is / was to be added 'post-launch'.
Does anyone have an accurate ETA for DD support on XBOne? Two consoles plus two copies of Titanfall will run me the better part of 1k GBP but I'm reluctant to part with the cash if the headsets aren't going to be properly supported (and unwilling to spend
yet more cash for XBOne specific headsets)

When is 5.1 surround coming to optical for headsets 2018?

Dolby Digital via Optical has been there for months. Under Settings, Display & Sound, set Optical Audio to Bitstream out and then set the Bitstream format to Dolby Digital.

 

No audio via optical output

My audio optical out recently just quit working altogether. Was there a recent update or something that stopped sending out the audio signal over optical?

I do notice on my receiver it now displays Dolby Digital when I use the HDMI when it didn't previously. I was using the optical audio to get Dolby Digital.

Any ideas on what's going on?

 

There suppose to be a update coming in march to fix alot of stuff i dont see why the dolby option wouldnt be in that update.

 

Hopefully it will be, yet frankly there is no reason to believe it will be included. Rather just "hope" . With no communication from MS stating anything definitive in nature, we are just left to hang, crossing fingers, which is wrong on all fronts.

Thanks to everyone who's replied... if I understand correctly there may or may not be an update in respect of DD5.1 coming in March (LOL). If there is then I can use Kinect for chat BUT if I want to use an after-market audio adapter for chat DD5.1 is boned
in either case.

The most sensible thing to do appears to be to stick with the XB360 until the XBOne market has matured... maybe in another 6 - 12 months I can look again at all the headset manufacturers and not just TB.

 

At this point, I wouldn't expect much at all from Microsoft. Their service has been horrible. If you are buying two consoles, be prepared for at least one controller or console to have issues, then be prepared to wait 3+ weeks for the issues to be repaired.
It's the worst customer service experience I've had in years...and it's still ongoing...
