the nat on my xbone is always goin from open to strict without notice, but it's usually always strict.

I have tried everything, I even spent 375$ on different routersI. I think it may be my Modem, it is 16 yrs old.

on the Xbox I made a static ip, and on every router I bought I did all the port forwarding, and took Down the firewall.

i had a Cisco e1000, it worked ok, not great, with my 360, still had some issues. So I bought a Cisco e3000, a newer model. It kept going stric as well as it kept dropping signal to all the computers in the house. So I bought a d-linkac1300 dgl 5500, which
I'm using now and I still have the same issue, but instead of the computers dropping signal, my gf's xbox is. And the nat still won't stay open.

I still own all 3 pod these routers, if someone could help . I was giving thought to buying a new modem, if you think that a would work.

and yes I connected my Xbox straight to the Modem and the NAT is open. but their are 5 people in my house so I can't hog the Internet.

    :)

    Strict NAT, Tried everything

Yes, if I am correct that you are behind a NAT router and firewall they are managing. If, as I understand, you are getting Internet via CAT5e/6 from the wall and do not have your own modem, then that is almost certain. You can verify by looking at the WAN
IP of your E900, as reported in its web interface. If it is a private class IP (see explanation at
whatismyipaddress.com/private-ip), then your E900 is behind another NAT router--presumably your complex-wide one. It may be very difficult to convince them to open ports for you, and what
if another resident with an Xbox One wants the same? A port can only be forwarded to one host at a time...

  5. Please I'm begging if anyone could give even an opinion.

This is frustrating me so much I broke an xbone controller and my 1200$ laptop over the situation. I work all day 10am to 10pm 6 days a week and the only thing I ask is I can come home and enjoy some XBL, but I can't even do that. I really would appreciate
some advice, or help, just an opinion.

  7. You could try to reset EVERYTHING (modem , router and xbox) to factory defaults and start over.....as I said , I didn't need any static ip's or any port forwarding......any good router with UPNP should work

  10. I had forgotten ugly a new router abou 10-11 yrs ago. It's a Motorola surfboard, idk the numbers on it, I think it's something like 5101.

Yes I have two 360 an Xbox one, wii, wii u, ps3, but I only have two tv's in my room so there at no more than two of them on at any giving time. But theirs multiple devices on it because I do have 5ppl in the house. So 4-5 cell phones, two xbox's sometimes
a wii, and up to 3 computers all at once sometimes.

I have found that my xbone always tries to get the IP address 192.168.0.106 but if another device is using that ip, my nat is usually strict. If there was a way to make it so that that ip only went specifically to my xbone, I'd probably be ok.
Yes I have two 360 an Xbox one... two xbox's sometimes *snip* all at once sometimes.
This set up will cause a port competition, regarding Xbox traffic and that is why you see a change in the nature of your NAT's behavior,
drifting from Open to a restricted model of operation.

This is where UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) enters the stage. UPnP have the knowledge to implement an open window, visible to any host on the Internet to see and pass traffic through to your console and not only visible to the destination host, which
is represented in a strict model. More important, UPnP is capable of handle multiple xboxes with this open window, or an open NAT/full-coneNAT/Endpoint Independent Mapping.

Not many make and models of router's that you see on the market today implement the UPnP stack in a well-behaved way. You can try and see if your router is capable of implementing UPnP, to have a more tolerant mode of operation for all three xboxes, at
    the same time.

Make sure each and every one of your xboxes network settings are set to obtain IP address and DNS automatic.

Visit the manufactures website of your router, to make sure your router is up-to-date with the latest version of firmware.

Access your routers web-utility interface and make sure UPnP is ticked enable. With UPnP operating, make sure you've disabled Port Forwarding/Virtual Server and DMZ.

    Keep us posted!

  12. Yes my modem is a sb5101. The dgl 5500 does have UPnP.

So I turn UPnP on then I get rid of all the port forwarding setting I put in? And then do what with the dmz? The dgl has an area where u put the ip of the device for the dmz.

i can't take the firewall completely down becaus Their r laptops and other pc's on it.

    Xbone NAT strict, tried everything.

Make sure the area where you can put an IP in the DMZ is blank and disable DMZ (if you don't see a disable option then leaving it blank is probably how you disable it on your router).
Yes my modem is a sb5101.
That's all I wanted to know. Let's proceed.
The dgl 5500 does have UPnP.
Good!

Before you make sure this feature is enabled, make sure your router is up-to-date with the latest version of firmware, by visiting the manufactures website.
So I turn UPnP on then I get rid of all the port forwarding setting I put in?
Correct!

If you exclusively tied one of your xboxes IP address and ports, to be forwarded, then you have to delete all these entries. Don't forget to Save/Apply!
And then do what with the dmz? The dgl has an area where u put the ip of the device for the dmz.
Just make sure you don't have any of your xboxes IP exclusively tied in the DMZ of your router. This field should be
    blank.
i can't take the firewall completely down becaus Their r laptops and other pc's on it.
Even with the software firewall disabled on your router, your router is actually still a "firewall" in that sense it will block inbound
traffic to any device behind your router which hasn't initiate an outbound connection. A few exemptions is made to this setup, Port Forwarding rules and DMZ.

Note! Strictly and technically, your router is not truly a firewall, in that sense it will not inspect data, or attempt to block outgoing connections.

ArminatorX can sort this out. Please read:

  15. I did all that, and believe it or not I think the router crapped out. I can't connect any devices wirelessly, but the LAN works fine. I rebooted the modem and all devices and even factory reset everything, but I still can't get on wireless. I keep getting
authorization failure or unable to connect. And the router name keeps coming up weird, it's. supposed to be home sweet home, but it comes up as Home Sweet Home.

So I went out and bought another 200$ router, a Cisco lynksis EA1750, this has UPnP as well. It seems to be working ok, my nat is always either open or moderate, but I've only used it for a few hours.
