xbone appears to hang during factory reset after I chose to remove everything

I’ve been having trouble ever since a game update just before Thanksgiving. Long story, but finally determined that a factory reset was necessary. I first chose to “keep games and apps” and it seemed ok, but then suddenly the game became unresponsive and
then the controller and then I had to unplug it to get it to do something. Upon restart, it wouldn’t sign in and wouldn’t bring me to the menu. I decided to then do a full reset and remove everything... started up with power+eject, got the familiar eternity
of green screen and then far too much black, followed finally by the reset menu (and me shouting “gawd finally” so loud my dog jumped up and started barking). I then chose to “remove everything”, hit the A button, and for the last hour it has just been stuck
on that screen as the pic shows. There is no indication that anything is happening at all and the hard drive seems idle.

What gives? does this take hours to process? is there not a progress screen? what do I do?

If you remove your account from the console and reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One (chose reset and remove everything) nothing will remain from your saved data or downloaded games in the said console.

To remove your account from console:

To reset your xbox one console to factory settings:

I figured out how to fix it. You have to factory reset and you remove everything.

 

Ok so at the two hour mark I got fed up and unplugged the box. Let it sit for a full minute and then plugged it back in. It brought me through the setup process ok. Once I was all signed in, I confirmed everything was deleted. Then I restarted the system.
No problems there. Now am installing Destiny year 1 from the disc and updating. We’ll see. Once it’s done updating, I will reboot. If all goes well, I will then reinstall Destiny 2. I have very low expectations right now, but we’ll see. I’m just not convinced
that the reset process completed properly and won’t somehow come back to bite me in the ass.
