Xboc One chatpad not working on One S controller

Hello, I just recently purchased an Xbox One chatpad and it doesn't seem to fit either of my One S controllers. Now I saw other people have had the same problem over the last year or so. I know it isn't the controllers because I have an adapter piece for
my headset and that fits just fine in both controllers. Didn't know if support would have any worth wild suggestions on how to fix the problem without breaking my expensive controllers. I have started the exchange process on Amazon, hopefully the one they
send isn't faulty as well.

Xbox One Chatpad does not work with Xbox One S Controller

I unboxed my Xbox One on August 2nd and set it up immediately.

I took my working chatpad from my old controller and plugged it into my new Xbox One S controller. It does not work.

I have updated the controller. I have updated the Xbox One console. Neither of these methods fixed the issue.

I get no prompts after plugging in the chatpad, and the controller stays on after the chatpad is plugged in. There are no lights on the chatpad and none of the buttons work. When I plug my chat pad into my old controller it works just fine.

Will the new controllers ever be updated so the chat pad works?

I got an Xbox One S a while ago and I love it but for some reason the chatpad doesn't work on the new controller. I contacted support and they said the new controllers don't support the chatpad. Any word on a controller firmware update to get the chat
pad working?

I've experienced the similar issue when I got my Xbox One S, and I still had the Xbox One headset from the previous console. The headset connects the same way to the controller as the chatpad: through the controller's accessory port.

I was able to fit my XB1 headset into the accessory port after some tries,
but you have to get it at just the perfect angle. Just have a little patience and angle the chatpad until it's able to slide into the port. Eventually, the normal wear on the port will allow an easier fit between the two pieces.

Not sure what Microsoft did to the accessory ports on the One S controllers or recently manufactured accessories. I guess they might've made the connectors a strangely
tighter fit as of late.

You may experience the same thing with your replacement unit if you've already got another one coming. Try what I suggested regardless.

Okay did a little measuring while waiting for a response... so far it looks like the issue is that whatever connector is at the bottom of the XBOX ONE S controller... it is not meant for whatever is on the connector of my XBOX ONE Chatpad (the chatpad is
indeed the official microsoft one).

Its like the connector for the XBOX ONE S controller is meant for something a little wider... that's why it feels like when I try to plug in the chatpad something is pushing back... the flat 'slab' type thing inside the connector is slightly wider than what
is on the chatpad... at least that's what I seem to find with my controller... I'm not speaking for all the other XBOX ONE S controllers or chatpads...

I have a headset adapter that I will try now... I was hoping to avoid opening the package unless I really needed it... but here goes... :/

I just went to buy the chatpad from Microsoft but in the comments it says it works on the xbox one controller but not on the xbox one s controller multiple people said it wont fit so I am thinking people are wrong about me buying the adapterbir the chatoa
to fix the no sound issue on my Xbox one s controller

You may have to wiggle the chatpad around to be sure that it's properly aligned to get it to fit onto your Xbox One S controller. Be sure that the prongs and such are aligned correctly and then try wiggling things to see if you can get it to pop on. Are
you able to try your Xbox One chatpad on a different Xbox One controller? Preferably not an Xbox One S version. If you don't have one available, you could bring your chatpad to a local retailer and ask if you can try it there.
