Xbox One S vs Xbox One Elite

I just purchased the 2tb XBO S & Not one single person has covered this topic... Are the internals of the Xbox one S the same as the elite console? (20% faster). Not one topic has been about the XBO S and The XBO Elite. We all learned already that the S
console doesn't make the games run better but we don't know if it loads faster menus/games/apps/etc. I really hope it is the exact same full specs as the elite or better, given that the elite is 8+ months old. I'm not gonna be a happy customer if it has the
OLD specs of the original XBO...Anyone know the answer?

This video shows how fast the elite is compared to the original XBO

That depends on if you want better image quality or higher frame rates from games, if so then yes but if it's not something you really care about all that much then stick with the One S.

Here's what I know about the differences between xbox one S and xbox one X and some advice for your situation with not having a 4k TV: (list may not be complete)

    Xbox one S:

    1. Does upscale DVD/Blu ray/xbox 360 games/xbox one games
      to 4k.
    2. Has a 4k UHD Blu Ray drive and will play 4k UHD Blu Ray movies.
    3. Is 40% smaller than a regular xbox one.
    4. Has 8GB of DDR4 memory. This is comparable to modern gaming PC memory.

    Xbox one X:

    1. Upscales DVD/Blu ray/Xbox 360 games/Xbox one games to 4k. Will also play UHD games in 4k when they are released.
    2. You will be getting improved framerates for existing games from Xbox 360 and Xbox one.
    3. Has a 4k UHD Blu Ray drive and will play 4k UHD Blu Ray movies. The drive is under the top part on the front and isn't in the same place as on the xbox one S.
    4. Is a little bit smaller than the Xbox one S - which means smaller than 40% of the size of the original Xbox one.
    5. Has 12GB of DDR5 memory. This is the type of memory that is in graphics cards and is not yet used in modern PCs as main memory. This means faster loading times for everything.
    6. Has liquid cooling for the custom AMD 8-core CPU @ 2.3Ghz: faster and better than the Xbox one S.
    7. The hard drive is 1TB (for the first release bigger ones may come) but is at a
higher RPM speed (7200 I'm guessing) so your games will load faster. The xbox one S has a 5400 RPM drive.
    8. Has a graphics card that has 6 Tereflops of power. That's almost the power of an Nvidia GTX 1070.
    9. Has the ability of super-sampling. This means the console renders the images in the console at 4k resolution and shrinks it down to 1080p or whatever resolution you're on and you'll get a way better picture than without super-sampling or with regular
upscaling. Modern graphics cards for computers do this very often as not everyone has a 4k monitor, the same as not everyone has a 4k TV.
    10. Supports Dolby Digital 5.1 and TrueHD with Atmos.
    11. The top has no fan vents so you can put things on top of it if you have it horizontal.
    12. No power brick just like the Xbox one S - it's inside the console.
    13. All connections are the same as the Xbox one S: Back/front.
    14. Kinect works with Xbox one X just like the Xbox one S but you will need the Kinect adapter (to USB in the back):

      http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/kinect/kinect-adapter
    15. All accessories that work with the Xbox one and Xbox one S will work with the Xbox one X.
    16. If you need more storage get a USB3.0 drive that's at least 256GB in size. For more info on external hard drive storage see here:

      http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/console/manage-storage

even without 4K TV you will see the benefits in your games

  7. The XBOX ONE S is 4K, you have to have a 4K TV in order to get 4K content. Then your 4K TV has to be directly in the XBOX (TV IN ) HDMI slot. Once you connect this your XBOX will automatically download the Blu Ray 4K app

  8. Xbo one S and xbox one X

Personally i can not wait for the new xbox one X to arrive. I do not have a 4k HDR TV yet even though i have the xbox one S, i know the xbox one X has loads of advantages listed here in this thread and is future proofed for when i inevitably buy my 4K HDR10
    compatible TV.

  9. #10 is also done on the S now . They finally added Atmos support . Unfortunately , it's still saddled with a weak processor to handle the increased graphics power . Better , but still needs more HP . When they build one that can blow my current gaming pc
in the dust i'm going to get one then . Gonna be hard to beat 2 980tis in sli though ... and yes , I own an Xbox One S that's "suppose" to be my all-in-one home entertainment solution . Close , but no cigar .

ChiefJoboo has a good breakdown of what the differences are.

However, only you can answer if it is worth the upgrade to you. If you are unsure, perhaps wait for the console to reduce in price in the future to pick one up.

  11. Re #9 - (I'm pretty noob at this stuff) but this does mean that I would get slightly better image quality on my non 4k-tv using the Xbox One X vs original Xbox One?

Yes, the picture on your 1080p TV would also be improved.

Lovely! That solves my dilemma then - Xbox One X now, 4K tv later!

    Thanks!

  14. Higher frame rates? It's not going to have higher frame rates, better resolution yes, but not frame rate. The 60FPS has always been a thing with only their exclusive titles.

My Xbox One X controller isn't working on Windows 7 (wired)

Every controller since my first (1 with audio jack, one XBO S, one XBO X) hasn't worked, so it's not the controllers themselves.
