XBL is the Premier Online Gaming Community, then why...

I love Xbox Live, to me it isn't even a discussion as to who the King is when is comes to the online gaming community and online features. However, since March... the competition has the ability to pre-order Destiny digitally, and also download the
game early so once it hits 12:00 am, the game unlocks and is playable. NOT only that, but recently they have been given the ability to "upgrade" their pre-order to the limited edition, to gain access to all of the limited edition digital content. This is
unacceptable to me as a competitor as well as a gamer.

Funny thing is, this will not even effect me. 90% of my games library is all hard copy. And I have already secured my hard copy CE of Destiny for my XB1. But it is the principle that upsets me. I know there are a lot of Xbox users out there that
are trying to make a transistion to all digital. And those of you with bad internet this would really help you, as you could start to install this early.

I am aware the Sunset Overdrive "Pre-Order" leak. Sunset Overdrive releases Oct. 28th, Destiny comes out Sept. 9th. Sunset Overdrive looks really cool and fun. However, it does not have the recognition or hype that Destiny does. Nor does Insomniac
have the accolades or the following that Bungie does. I do not know what goes on in the back rooms at Xbox, but this is a huge set of features. And in my opinion I am not aware of any other feature that could possibly be more important to Xbox Live than
this. If someone has a feature that is more important to Xbox Live then, please let me know. And let me know what you think.

Xbox LIVE, a rip off?

No, Xbox Live is the premier online gaming service. I don't believe it is a rip off. I feel like I am getting my money's worth as well as a great community.

I have never had a disruption in service. Or had any issues with following directions for security changes (like the above poster), nor have I had any billing issues.

 

Its the only feature IMO the X1 is missing. I hope they get on it soon, but we do know its coming. and yes it might come before destiny. I mean twitch was just added right before titanfall w/o any advanced heads up. they do updates every month so there is
still the august update coming which could have it. SO yes I want it, i'm all digital, but its coming soon

 

This is how technology and business have always worked, and always will work. One company gets a cool new feature. Everyone loves it. Then all the other guys scramble to implement that feature. Then it becomes standard.

Sony got to it first this time. Microsoft will get the next one. Then Sony will get something else. Then maybe Nintendo will get one. This is exactly why rivalries are so important to any industry. They spur growth and innovation instead of complacency and
stagnation.

If you think or even hope Microsoft is going to be the first to implement new things every time, or even that they will implement them at the same time as their rivals, you are going to be sorely disappointed. You have a current gen console. Play games and
watch it improve over time. Don't worry about what the other guy is doing.

 

You speak as if digital preorders is a feature that wont be available until October. That leak could mean its available in August, or December. We dont know. What I do know is that patience is a virtue.

 

I appreciate the input Sword Style. I keep tabs on the console war. And believe in knowing thy enemy, to help keep the uninformed fed with facts haha. I agree with your post. However that garbage network of theirs has hardly been innovative. This is
the most significant feature they have brought to the table and it is a big one. And their users bark loud. We find them in these forums to often.

 

Even with pre download,i won't start to play a new game at midnight.Only after getting back from work.

I'm more interested by digital pre order bonuses.

And Microsoft are working on these features among others.

 

@24hrs, I am not sure if you read my post all the way through or just skimmed over it. My posts is about the competition having said feature since march, and the ability to upgrade their pre orders as well as being able to download it early. Hopefully
we drop a bomb and implement this fully for Madden. But as it sands now, they are a full car length ahead.

 

In some areas they are ahead and in others not so much. But what I am trying to say is be patient. Digital preorders isnt the end all be all of your gaming experience and admittedly you arent fully digital so just calm down. The xbox team is well aware of
features the community wants and are already on record saying this feature is coming.

 

Yop,and Microsoft will make and (or) publish at least 4 games this fall,i prefer these kind of "features".

 

I agree 24hrs, it is back and forth. I was wondering what the rest of the community is thinking. As a highly requested feature, I am sure it can be frustrating for those out there who want to these abilities, and learn about an inferior network (who is
not know for innovation) to have it in place already. While I understand the pre order is a ways away, the function is there. As I said it does not effect me. But that does not mean i do not care about our community, and its evolution. As well as its
perception as the King of online thanks for the post

Couldn't agree more. The competition has no right to be able to brag about anything they have that we don't. If they get a cool feature I have no doubt in my mind that the hard-working devs at Xbox could crank out something that would dwarf it in 10 different
ways. As you said, Doc, the Xbox community is the premier community for online gaming and is unmatched in every way. Let's go Xbox devs! Let's leave 'em in the dust!

Also I do think we're downplaying the importance of Destiny. This game is supposed to be the greatest ever and the competition has extras set out for it. That's what I think is unacceptable.

 

I hear ya Ace. Thanks for the post cuz. I do think a lot of people are downplaying the importance of Destiny. It has a lot of hype. So much in fact that it has bumped the competition's new white console bundle up to top 5 pre-orders. And that is not
good for publicity, as numerous news forums have posted inaccurate information about Kinect, GPU information and etc. 1 thing is true. The sales we are getting crushed. And this bundle being in the top doesn't help, nor does them having the ability to digitally
pre order the game. While it remains to be seen how good this game is, it's significance is important.
