XBL Communications is Flawed (somewhat)

Firstly, how dare you accuse me of judging you nor did I specifically call you silly and secondly, you need to wind your neck and just stop. Can't you see you're becoming a laughing stock.

To answer your question, the communications seem fine to me..

 

If the racist guy was hurting your feelings, start a different party.

 

So, you guys are perfectly okay with the idea of blocking someone while in a party with them and after that fact, they can still hear you?

 

FH, I did start a new party - I didn't stay in the same party with that guy for more than a minute.

 

@GG. I think you were right about how the 360 does it, It work's perfectly on the 360. A lot of people on here sometimes act like comparing the X1 and 360 is a sin, they act like it's a PS4 & X1 comparison, it isn't though. A lot of great features could
of easily been passed from 360 to the X1, instead MS decided to redesign feature's and made them worse.

 

Yeah, at least they can't talk back. Mute, block and move on, seen countless posts about people being immature with similar responses to mine. In the words of one forum poster: "Good Luck!"

 

I don't think it was right that you reported your friends friend. Had this happened in Game chat, then yes you should have reported him, but in Party Chat, you had no business doing that.

The point of party chat is so that you can chat with your "Friends" the way you normally do in real life. You can curse, make fun of people, insult people, pretty much say whatever you want because it's among "Friends". If you have a problem with what's
being said in "Party Chat", then you should just leave. But that's just me...

 

I love the fact they can still hear me. It makes me laugh to know that some
[Mod Removed]is probably still talking to me without relising that I'm not listening. It's also a good way to troll your friends when they are stirring you up. Just pretend that you muted them and they believe it because they can still hear you even
though your not responding to them. Had some good laughs with that one!

 

BL, you make a good point about party chat, but I want to make 1 thing clear - he was NOT my friend, just a friend of a friend that I had never met before. He was for all intents and purposes, a complete stranger and it was 1 of the worst 1st impressions
I have ever had on XBL bar none. That being said, being in party chat does NOT excuse you from violating the XBL CoC and ToU.

Dufful, that is EXACTLY what I think is wrong with the system. It allows you to abuse it in ways exactly as you described. Thanks for making it obvious for everyone else.

 

Mate some of us actually have what we like to call "a sense of humour"! Especially when it's between friends. Lighten up man.

 

I prefer XBL communication on the Xbox 360. As you might have seen in my video OP I didn't even know how to start a Party on Xbox 1 but do now. The Xbox 360's Dashboard is so easy and intuitive and familiar even for younger people compared to the Xbox 1.
And communications there work properly. You mute someone via game tools (Halo 4, Reach, COD BO2, etc), they're muted (unless someone else in the lobby uses a Kinect then they just get the echo from your voice). If you block communications they no longer spam
you. It's just sooo much easier on the Xbox 360 interface without it looking too Windows 8 which I must say Xbox 1's Dashboard is.

Xbox 1 isn't even 9 months old quite, yet. They'll come with a few fixes sooner or later. Even 360 has had some issues, trolls trying to hack into Invite Only Xbox Live Parties. I was in a party on 360 with one of my friends who is a girl, and her X-friend
kept joining her Invite Only Party. Not to mentioned she got ticked off and de-friended him. Well he did mention he was a hacker or something. And peps even managing to write the F word in full glory isn't the XBL system meant to censor that word automatically?

 

GG, you reported your Friends Friend because "his was foul-mouthed and used racial slurs" in party chat, but you have no problem playing a game like South Park where you got an Achievement called "New Kid On The Block" which is for "You have joined the KKK"?

Like @DuFFul said, you need to lighten up. The reason why people are foul-mouthed and say racial slurs IS because they're in Party Chat. I'm sure your friend has no problem his friends language. Maybe you should just be more picky when adding friends and
don't go burn someone because you get offend so easily. Honestly, I'd delete you from my friends list if you told me you reported one of my buddies because of that...but again, that's just me.

 

Im with Black on this, you reported a freinds freind within the space of a few minutes, thats very disrispectfull, you should have asked him to stop then muted him and left party if he carried on.

He might of been a nice guy, people talk like this their whole lives they see it as normal but you see it as wrong, you have to not worry about it.

As for the chat system the block not workin while your in the party is probebly because your connected through direct comms and it needs to refresh like with ts/vent where u leave then rejoin channel for stuff to take effect on ur client, gl.

 

Being a ginger people take the mickey but I dont mind as I do it to myself anyway. I know loads of people from loads of different background wether they be black white, asian, ginger, whatever. That actually take the mickey out of themselves. Not everyones
being prejudices to others. It can just be abit of banta. I have a sense of humour as do other and if I feel like someones taking it too far just ask them to tone it down. As elsa would say. "Let it go!"

 

I know the difference between messing around among friends and an actual racist - I'm telling you guys, this guy was definitely the latter and doesn't belong on XBL because he is bound to spread hate and ignorance. Again, you guys weren't there.

Just because my friend might be okay with that kind of attitude doesn't mean that I should be (and I never will be).

Also, regarding games like South Park: The Stick of Truth, those come with ratings that let consumers know what they're buying, and as such they can be avoided if the consumer so chooses. People, on the other hand, don't come with warning signs. The fact
of the matter is that this guy was clearly violating the rules of XBL, I took what I believed to be an appropriate action (this is where many of you disagree with me), and in doing so, I've made XBL a better place for me, if not for others as well.

While many of you may disagree with me (which in itself is fine), it bothers me that many of you think that what I did was wrong. There was nothing wrong with my actions. I have to wonder sometimes if many of the people online act the way they do and get
away with it not because of a flawed reputation system, but rather because of inaction from everyone else - as a result, we have many racist and other disreputable people online that easily and often ruin the fun of other players.

Regarding the topic itself, I do think this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed by MS and the current system as is is overly complicated when it doesn't need to be.
