    XB1X Dolby Atmos not working


    I'm having an issues with my new XB1X and my Samsung K850 soundbar. The soundbar does support Dolby Atmos but when I have the setting on my Xbox set for it I lose sound when I am in the menu or when I pause a movie, Sound is being sent from HDMI thru the
    soundbar unit itself. I can get it to work fine once I reset my setting and change them all over again to support atmos but once I turn off my xbox I get the same issue of no sound. I've already updated the soundbar and it works fine. Is it a problem with
    the Xbox software?

    XB1X Dolby Atmos problem

    I just purchased Dolby Atmos through Dolby Access on Xbox One X. It sounds absolutely tremendous on my Sony Str Dn 1080 and 5.1 setup when Atmos content is actually played, however I get a horrific unbearable popping sound when pausing such content. It happens
    in the Dolby Access app, playing Atmos content on Netflix, etc, but NOT when playing a 4k UHD movie off the disk in the Xbox One X. My receiver displays it as Atmos switching to Linear PCM 7.1 (3/4.1) when paused, so I'm guessing that handoff of sound profiles
    is the culprit but how do I fix that?

    I'm also ignorantly curious why I can't be Dolby Digital at all times, like when I have Dolby Digital selected for Bistream Format instead of Atmos, and then switch to Atmos automatically when supported Atmos content is played. When Atmos is my selection
    in audio settings my receiver displays Linear PCM 7.1 everywhere instead of Dolby Digital and I feel like the quality isn't as good.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

    I would first try checking the website for the receiver manufacturer just to check that you are using the latest firmware on device.

    *maybe* this "problem" is exactly how the Dolby Atmos App on Xbox One X works.

    Dolby Atmos native content? perfect! Dolby Atmos playback.

    No Dolby Atmos? the App upmix current audio track to Dolby Atmos (the headphones features works in this way).

    I don't know if is intentional.

    If the game does not support Dolby Atmos, then the audio is normal stereo. Microsoft are working on updating Dolby Atmos, where if the game does not support Dolby, the audio will be converted to simulate Dolby Atmos.

    with a 5.1 speaker setup you cant have atmos, dont use it.

    5.1.2 is the minimal speaker setup for real atmos, and a atmos suporting receiver

    dts x works with 5.1 speaker systems, atmos not

    I have the same thing going on. I also have a Sony strdn1080 and actually swapped it for another thinking it was the amp. I get the same popping sound while pausing demos from the Dolby access app or when playing a game that is encoded in Dolby Atmos like
    Assassins Creed Origins. I was losing my mind until I found out other people were having the same issue. I even had the Dolby Access demos just stop playing sound all together once.
