    I bought this Xbox in November of 2018. The warranty is expired.

    I had the Xbox connected to a surge protector. The surge protector and everything connected to it survived the lightning strike last week, but the Xbox did not.

    I changed the internal power supply and bought a replacement power cable today, and the Xbox now turns on, but the fans don't spin and the TV doesn't acknowledge it. I've tried different TVs, different HDMI cables, different HDMI ports, and different power cables. Everything works fine when tested with the XB360, which was on the same surge protector at the time.

    The question is: is this a component I can change out myself, or is the internal circuit bad? Would I be better off getting an XBSX?

    and the original model, the first of the generation, unfortunately microsoft hasn't made repairs due to lack of parts for a few years, I advise you to seek assistance to analyze the board and define what caused the defect on your board due to the high voltage exposed to the board .
