    XB1-X - Purchased UHD movies time out 'Can't Play 0x000005b4'


    Please advise!

    I've purchased several movies from the Microsoft Movies & TV store. The UHD movies I purchased have intermittent playback issues that eventually result in a spinner and time-out with an alert that says "Can't play" with error code
    0x000005b4.

    HD movies purchased or rented through Microsoft Movies & TV store "seem" to play fine though I do notice intermitted poor quality throughout the film.

    I can only imagine this is an internet issue but my internet speeds are very fast and stable. Below are more details.

    IMPORTANT: Netflix UHD videos play just fine with no issues. No online gaming issues what-so-ever. No internet issues at all in general OTHER THAN playback of rented and/or purchased movies from Microsoft Movies & TV store.

    • XBOX 1 X - hardwired.
    • 250mb/s download speeds consistent and tested.

    • Deleted and reinstalled the 'Videos' app
    • Deleted and re-added my profile
    • Hard restarted console and router
    • Cleared caches in as many ways as I could find out how
    • RESET my console entirely

    • Setup is XB1-X HDMI to Soundbar > Soundbar HDMI to ARC channel on TV
    • Soundbar is 4K quality from source to screen with 4K HDR passthrough with HDCP2.2.
    • TV is 4K Ultra HD TV with High Dynamic Range

    Hi, i have this error code...0x000005b4 when i try to see via strem a 4k uhd movie in my xbox one x.

    My internet 150mb and no problem

    My xbox one x is conect via ethernet cable, new (cat6).

    I haven't seen a recent response (nor fix) and I'm having the same issue. This happens periodically to me (not every time I play a movie).

    2 things that may help.

    1 - Have you checked to see if your ethernet cable is bad possibly by using a different or new one? I had a cable go bad once.

    2 - Could you use an optical cable to your TV and wire the Xbox One X straight to that?

    I hope you find a solution for this! I love watching UHD movies on my Xbox One X. It is like...Pretty cool.

    My ethernet cable is brand new actually.

    I've tried a configuration with optical cable once before. Since I have the option of HDMI over audio optical with my sounder having 4k pass through I just use that.

    I love watching UHD movies too! When they work for me XB1-X - Purchased UHD movies time out 'Can't Play 0x000005b4' :(
