xb1, worst console ever.

hey guys, wow does this thing choke on turds.

always freezing, downloading and installing takes hours, very buggy. and mine will navigate around the "wall" but when i go to select "enter" anything, it doesnt do anything, just makes the noise and does nothing.

i have to turn it off and on again for it to work, and when i go to turn it off (via controller) the screen goes black but the xbox light on the consol will flash for 3-7mins maybe longer untill it fully shuts down.

i bought the gem brand new and its had a good easy life. but has been sooooo problematic.

worst console ove ever had.

what do you guys think about the "not selecting" problem and having to turn it off and on ?

Hey there, notbarry! I'm very sorry to see that you are having issues with your console! This is something that we would like to work with you on resolving.

If you are having issues with downloading games, you will want to check out our

Troubleshoot slow game or app downloads support page and our
Xbox One Connection Error Solution troubleshooter. These will help us narrow down issues on that side of things. Download times vary for different speeds, and speeds rarely stay constant.

If you turn your console off and the power button flashes, that simply means that it's doing a background install, very much like the Xbox 360 does. You likely notice this one more because the button and light are much larger than the Xbox 360. I know I do,
and it threw me off at first, too.

To help with you selecting items and it not working, sometimes holding the power button for 10 seconds to clear any cache will help you out. If it doesn't, please do post back so that we can look into it further!

Give those troubleshooting pages I linked above a try! They should help you with downloading games to your console. If they don't, please post back what your router and modem models are, and who your ISP is. We'll get to the bottom of what you're running into!

 

Hi notbarry, the selecting issue is a widespread software issue, probably from the November update. Hard reset temporarily fixes it, but it does return. Also to note, I get the feeling that hard resetting may be bad for the console so I'd be choosy about
when you do it as I was experiencing the same issue for a couple of weeks and was hard resetting every second day, sometimes more and now I have a noisy CPU fan and need repair. Certainly this console hardware wise does seem to have more varied problems than
the 360 did in it's initial launch, though that was a long time ago and I may be wrong, but I don't remember being this worried about it back then as I didn't have any problems for at least a couple of years and when I did it was the expected RROD. This time
around I'm 8 months in and need fixing. Sigh.

 

I sympathise with notbarry, Im so disappointed in the Xbox one, its just so fragile.

Freezing all the time, and not loading the dashboard then you try and turn it off out of boredom and the thing won't shut down and just flashes at you.

I think I chose the wrong brand of console and Ive had enough, disappointed to lose my digital downloads but if I can't play them what do I lose?!

misses, i checked the connection and my download speed is 5.88 mbps, upload 0.60, 0% P/Loss, 1480 MTU and 368ms latency

when i went to usage it was all over the place, but the highest i seen was 900kb/s, but it wasnt doing anything just at idle.

with the slow downloading and install, i thought it was a common thing and everyone i have spoken too says the same thing.

with the flashing light after shutdown, it only ever does this if it doesnt select programs, ive never shut it down (just to shut it down) and its flashed the light at me.

i remember holding the button when it first started doing it, so i know that didnt help the issue.

my isp is telstra/bigpond (australia) and im using one of their "fast" technicolor tg587 routers.

when i did a speedtest.com tests i got 6.01mbs down, .88mbs up and 23ms ping.

ill read more t/shooting pages.

jerjef, yeh im not sure how long warranty is on these things but i bought this in the beginning of the year, so its probably over. my 360 was faultless and way easier to stream !

xxx Dante X xxx - If you could, please post up a new thread detailing what you're running into and troubleshooting you've completed. This way our community can get you the individual support that works best on the forums.

Your download is terrific, but your upload is slightly worrying for me. However, that shouldn't affect your downloading of games, and if you're on DSL like I suspect, it's actually spot on. The latency you provided really worries me. A good latency (ping)
is the one you posted from your computer. Luckily, the speeds do seem to be very similar, at least on the test side of things.

Your latency on the console indicates to me that there is something going on, however you are in Australia, and a lot of the time those tests are sent here in the US (which provides inaccurate data, I know). I did see yesterday that
Australia did get new servers, so hopefully that improves for you soon! For now, since everything else is looking good (speed and packet loss is AMAZING), I believe that the underlying
issue is that it's just taking too long for the servers to respond, and that's why the console sometimes doesn't recognize you selecting things.

I hope that makes sense. Please let me know if I am not making sense, and I will do my best to explain it a little better.

I am not aware of the Technicolor device you provided, but I did a little research. It seems it's a DSL gateway, correct? Is this the only Xbox device that you have connected to your Technicolor? If it is the only Xbox console you have, port forwarding or setting
up your console in the DMZ may help out in this situation. If you have more than one console, though, this will not help and may cause more issues.

Post back with that tiny bit of information, and let me know if we're on the same page here. Sometimes this stuff can get a bit convoluted and I don't want there the be any miscommunication between us. :3

i dont think the internet would have anything to do with the home screen as you dont even need the internet to navigate through it.

the upload speed is about right unfortunately in the area i live, .8-.9kbs. .6 is a bit low from the xbox.

i dont have much probs with lag and i always play on US servers with 3 bars on bf4.

yeh the latency is not good and thought it would be better even from pinging US server.

ill try port forwarding and get back to you.
