XB1 wont read discs ... hardware or software problem ?

tried a few games and they wont read (says disc is dirty) but signed out, turned on and of and forza is just syncing now ... has the latest update caused this error, or is likely my drive is partly at fault ?

Since the first update in 2018 my console has been having issues. One of said issues is games, apps, and everything else taking too long too start (even xbox idle). The only way to fix this is to power cycle, however it is only fixed for 15 minutes to an
hour before I have to power cycle again. When this happens I cannot do anything on my console game or app wise. I have tried to factory reset and got no results, even tried to edit startup settings (which seemed to help others) and still got nothing.

Any help would be very appreciated, would love to be able to play my Xbox without my games black screening after half an hour(ish).

P.s.) As of yesterweek games will not install or download after 15-45 minutes without a power cycle.

Oh and my console is the first XB1 to be released after the "Day One" Edition. Got mine on day 1 but it was the normal version.

Xbox does not read discs. Spain xbox support says wait for the next update because it is software problem, not hardware.

What should I do?

I have read in other threads that must be replaced.

Help please. I hope the next update or call the xbox support again?

 

I think some have had the same issue after the recent update. Have tour tried a hard reset?

 

yeah ... stuck titanfall and got the error ! tried other discs and said the same so did a reset and bk on fine, the disc drive isn't making any horrid noises ! bit strange coz there hasn't been a software update for a while ! gonna keep track on it ... but
seems fine now, so is it a common software fault/glitch ?

 

I don't know mate, I remember reading that it happened to a couple of others, but it was fixed by a reset, hope it stays fixed for you!

 

If you signed up to the preview progam its the last update they gave us that has caused this. There are alot of posts regarding this over there on the forums but still no fix as of yet.

I can play a game fine when i first switch the xbox on but if i press eject it sucks the disc back in and when you eject again and try another disc i get the dirty disc error and the only way to get it back to playing games is a hard reset. Is this whats
happening with you?

 

I've been getting the "Disc may be dirty" message alot over the past few days. It is the last preview update that caused it. Its being worked on.

 

so seems to happen to a few with the preview program ? ill keep an eye on it ... fan is squeaking as well from time to time ... ffs

 

it is where the disc drive is not fully waking up from the idle state, they are working on the issue now, if you have this issue after the official update rolls out then you may need to contact support.

 

think so farscape ! its not making mad noises, so probably is software related ... listening to the fan, but doubt that's a major problem !

 

I had another update last night. Havn't checked what its for though yet.
