XB1 wireless controller opening Steam when powering off controller

I am having a similar issue, although I do not have kinect.

My console and controllers (same problem with both controllers) were working fine even after the update as far as powering on and off everything meaning controllers and console....but since I updated my controllers with the controller firmware update the
console needs to be turned on manually or with my harmony remote...the controller then needs to be turned on and everything works--when powering down- the console will power down but the controller will not turn off when the console is powered down and off.
I have to manually turn off the controller when the console is off by holding the controller button for about 5 seconds....it all works- but it would be nice if when the console powered down the controller turned off as well. I am going to use that techs
suggestion you mentioned and put the xb1 in power saving mode (if I can figure out how to do this) and see if that works-

I am brand new to XB1 (a couple of months) and I have to say it really is a great console- just hope I can get the controller /console sync powering issue fixed!

It sounds nice, until you realize that you're juggling two controllers. If you choose just to talk using this method while playing on the xb1, it's good until the 360 controller shuts off due to inactivity. I suppose you could just use an MS official wireless
headset for the 360, which doesn't even require a controller connection/power though.

so far only on steam games. I have not being able to tried it on other games, but in theory when I open the xbox menu it should bug as well, but it doesn't. Which leads me to believe that it's maybe a problem caused by steam?

I think I'm getting closer to the source. It happened again when I tried connecting the controller after opening a game. Then, after closing some apps (I have an AutoScript to control media stuff, like System Volume and an app to warn me when the controller's
battery is flat), i noticed that Steam was trying to take the controller over. Maybe that's the cause for the reboot? (Also, pressing the Xbox button to turn it off was triggering the Volume without said apps open. Weird)

TWC customer here with a Cisco box. Mine works without issue, except the XB1 will not power off my TV. And I can't control the TWC DVR options via the XB1. Not a big deal.
