XB1 warranty a joke adopters read small print and warranty up

I was under the impression that I could extend the warranty like I did the 360's as long as the console was under warranty. I don't feel entitled to a life time warranty I was just halfway complaining, halfway trying to post so anyone who doesn't know does
and adds the service extend within the timeframe. you forum heads are ridiculous

 

What is halfway complaining???most that purchase understand warranties and/or guarantees. So ur now warning anybody that may prchase n X1? Good man, but u don't have a lot of teeth in your argument...just saying...

 

The initial post sounds more like a warning to other users, and blaming himself for not reading up on the warranty information, but the thread title sounds like he's pushing the blame elsewhere. Click-bait?

 

You guys should relax on the OP a bit he actually makes a decent point. The only thing to compare the situation too is if he bought the "other" console. They let you add the extended warranty any time in the first 12 months that your covered under the original
warranty..

And there controllers have a 12 month warranty instead of a 90 day. Microsoft should step there warranty game up.

 

In other warranty news, I just got a 2 year warranty on my new TV as well as another 2 year warranty on my new XB1 controller from Best Buy.

 

I got my 360 slim 250gb console late 2010 and it's still working fine. It didn't die on me when the 12M warranty expired. The same applies for my Sony KDL40EX720 LED Full HDTV I got in 2011, and for my Sony CX190 camcorder I got late 2012. Every Day 1 Xbox
1 buyer knows their 12 month warranty will expire latish next month. But it's not doomsday. Rather, it will be Xbox 1's 1st BD.

Manufacturers companies and governments have expectations on the minimum requirement for how long hardware should last and that the quality needs to be good. 12 months sounds reasonable. My Samsung S5 comes with 2 years warranty from Samsung and Spark NZ
my Telco company, but the phone was $250 more than what I paid for my Xbox 1 console at launch day. I think under Australian and NZ law, if you buy a new console it is expected to last at least 12 months and that would include the controller too, for both
Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. When my 360 slim console was half way through it's 12M warranty, I contacted the authorized retailer where I got my console was from, this was in 2011 and asked if the warranty included the mic and controller. They said well M offers a
90 day warranty on those, but under the consumer guarantee act, since it came with the console, we can exchange the controller or headset if it were faulty, within the 12M warranty period, for free.

 

I think a lot of people have missed what I believe was the OP's point. Why does Microsoft only give you 45 days to purchase the extended warranty? Like I said on all the other company's consoles you can purchase the extended warranty any time In the first
12 months which it sounds like he was trying to do.

It shows a low confidence level in there hardware imo. Same goes for the short controller warranty.

 

I would agree. I don't buy extended warranties, though every product I have purchased (Including the 360) has offered the extended warranty, either by mail or e-mail, near the end of the initial warranty.

If I get 2 years use out of the X1, it's worth just buying a brand new one; I definitely don't want a refurbished one that the extended warranty would provide. Hopefully it lasts much longer though.

I haven't had my Xbox One for that long, but I paid $400 for the Kinectless Xbox One bundle and then I paid an extra $90 for the " Premium 1 Year Extended Replacement Plan " so my Xbox One is covered up to 2016.

Long story short, if ANYTHING happends to my Xbox One all I have to do is pack everything back into the box and just go back to store for a replacement

How does not allowing you to buy an extended warranty after 45 days show a low level of confidence in the hardware? It's quite the opposite, lol.

I do agree that they should let you purchase one any time in the first year if you want to though. Most extended warranties are never used, so it's more money for them and peace of mind for consumers who want the warranty.

For some reason, on Xbox.com my standard warranty runs into February 2015, even though I bought the console at launch in the UK in November last year. Seems I got 3 extra months from somewhere.

A lot of people don't think about the extended warranty untill there console starts to act up or there original warranty is about to expire.

Why do you think it's 45 days? any less and you would be going back to the store for a free replacement with a brand new console and have no worries. But after you send it in to Microsoft there is a chance your getting back a refurbished unit.

And I think most people understand that there is a much higher chance of it going bad. So at that point you would probably consider a extended warranty.

And don't forget the controller warranty that is a better example of low confidence. It should be 12 months just like the console. The "other" console offers it why not Microsoft?
