XB1 turns on but TV screen does not respond

Over the weekend my xbox 1 was turned off. When I powered it back on via the controller the light on the box came on but the TV screen remained "no signal". I can hear the machine pulsing quietly about 10 times, then a pause, then 10 pulse again. This lasts
about a minute, possibly two. But then the controller times out and the XB just sits there.

I've read that the XB1 needs to know that there is a TV recevieving the signal before booting so I suspected that it was either the HDMI cable, the TV port or the HDMI out port.

I swapped HDMI cables, swapped TV ports to ones that are working with other devices and TV port works with other devices also. So its not the TV nor the cables which leaves the HDMI out port or something else IN the XB1.

From what I have read it is unlikely to be the hard drive or the dvd drive as there is no signal on the TV. If the HDMI was working then I would presume I would get a green screen or black screen with an error code.

However I do not know. I have also tried a total power down (unconnected power brick until light goes out) and this failed to change the error.

Can anyone suggest anything else to check or is this a repair job? Can it even be repaired if HDMI out.

    :)

  2. Turned on the power of my Xbox One, and nothing shows up on screen

It's been 2 weeks I haven't touched my XB1 and I was in the mood of playing some Forza 6, so I turned on the power and my TV screen showed nothing, not even the green Xbox screen. My Xbox button does glow so I don't think there's any problem with my power
brick, neither are the TV and the HDMI cable as I can turn on my PS4 without any hassle. What could've possibly went wrong with my XB1 and what can I do?

One X doesn’t control my tv anymore

Just bought a 1X, and switched it out with my old XB1. Now it won’t control my tv or sound bar, it kinda controls the sound bar. It will shut it off when I turn on the 1X but it won’t but it will not turn it on or shut it down when powering the new system.
It does nothing for the Tv. It says it auto detects the tv but will still not control it. I tried entering the code manually for both tv and sound bar but my tv isn’t listed. I had none of these problems with my XB1 with out a Kinect. Any ideas on how to fix?

XB1 turns on but TV screen does not respond

    Hi ParkerNSon,

Sorry you're having issues with your console. If you've tried different TV ports and cables and that didn't work, then try resetting your display settings by doing the following.

Reset your display settings. Here's how:

    1. If there's a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.
    2. On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for five seconds to turn off the console.
    3. Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You will hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before the second beep. DO NOT LET GO until
      the second beep occurs.

Note This will boot your console in low resolution mode (640 × 480). To reset this setting, go toSettings in the guide, select Display & sounds, Video options, and then TV Resolution.
    4. If you are required to complete these steps on every boot-up, you will want to change your TV connection to HDMI as shown in step 3 in the next section, "Your screen is blank and you use an AVR in your setup." For more information, see How
to adjust the display settings on your Xbox One console
      .
I would next try a different TV. If doesn't work unplug the Xbox for about 5 minutes and plug it back in. I understand you've unplugged it, but the Xbox power supply holds a lot of power even after being unplugged. If you do both of those steps, and you're
still not getting a signal then it's likely something broken with the HDMI port or the Xbox iteself. Both would require repair which you can process by going this link.

Thanks for the possible solution. Unfortunately I cannot test this as I have bitten the bullet and sent it off for repair.

You solution seems to indicate that it is the TV that is having a problem however I have connected a second xbox 1 to the same port and it works fine.

The TV cable is plugged into the ARC port on the back of the receiver now, that's what I described as how we have it now. But Panasonic said for maximum reduction in possible video lag caused by going thru the receiver before getting to the TV they say to
plug game consoles direct to the TV on the HDMI port marked (Game). And we don't like our Satellite plugged into the Xbox because then you have to have the Xbox turned on in order to watch the TV which just burns extra energy for no reason.

Unless they have fixed it recently the the Pass-through on the XB1 does not work when we tried it in the past and the XB1 had to be turned on in order to watch TV but that's silly to make you have to run your XB1 for hours and hours if all your doing is
watching TV (and certainly don't like the XB1's TV feature when it's on anyway). Having to have the XB1 turned on is just burning energy and adding wear and tear to your XB1 to have it on when watching TV. We ONLY want to have to turn on the XB1 if we're actually
playing games or doing something specific to the XB1.
