    XB1 suddenly stopped recognizing my external HDD


    So I removed my external Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 500gb external hard drive to take it to my laptop to transfer some recently downloaded movies onto it, as I have been doing for what seems like forever now without problems, and all of a sudden my XB1 media
    player app will no longer recognize the HDD. Tried multiple USB inputs, side and rear, and nothing!!! Just quit working all of a sudden. I tried everything I could think out, reboot the XB1, and still nothing. I have tried most suggestions online and nothing
    has worked so far. My laptop still recognizes it and all movies and files in it are still accessible on my laptop. Anybody else encounter this problem?? And any help would be greatly appreciated!!! As well, does anybody know if it is possible to use a HDD
    to save both games and movies on it once it is formatted by the XB1?? My laptop is running windows 10. Thanks for any input!!!!

    Instant On features haven't worked in over a year, can anyone help me get it working again???

    Plus my over 100 XBLA games that I can't play anymore on xb1, and I have 72 games on my xb1 between internal and external HDD. Before anyone suggests it....these features stopped working long before I got an external hdd, lol.

    Voice commands

    Mine worked fine for almost two hours, then stopped recognizing any command at all. Then it suddenly started working again. No explanation. I could say XBOX in a very quiet voice and it would hear me over a movie, but when it stopped recognizing commands
    I was yelling XBOX at the top of my voice, and nothing happened. Expect a patch within 30 days.

    I've already only got about 45GB left on my XB1 HDD and that's going to get eaten up by Watchdogs. When GwG starts, for the XB1, I'm really going to need that external drive.

    Is the external drive not being recognized by your Xbox? PC? Its possible the external HDD may need to be replaced...

    Hey there DADDI05280,

    Have you made sure that the drive functions properly? I would connect it to a PC and run WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool to rule out faulty drive problems. Check if the drive passes both the quick and the extended tests. Here's a link to the tool:

    If everything is OK with the drive I'd contact MS's support and see what the guys can say about this. :)
