XB1 Stolen. Does MS disable reported consoles?

I filed a police report, then had a chat session with MS. They logged the s/n as stolen, gave me a service request number to give to the police. Not sure if the cops care enough to follow up with MS.

I hold no hope of getting it back, but I'm desperately curious since there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer--

Do they do something that disables the console? I changed the live password, so at worst they just can't sign in as me, but if the console can still be used, its kind of pointless.

Also reported it to the local pawn shop and gamestop.

can I remove the community from my XB1?

I'm looking for a way to disable or remove community tab from my own XB1 system.

Does anyone know if this can be done and if so how?

Microsoft COULD help you, but they make it difficult, if not impossible. My Xb1 and 360 were stolen. I don't have the Ser# to the 360, and MS says there is no way they can get me that info. Sure, like they can't look up my usage data and tell me the ser#.

So even if I could track down my stolen 360, I can't prove it's mine, because MS won't tell me what serial number I had (I didn't realize you had to register your consoles with MS. It seems when you set the Xbox up the first time, they'd do that.)

Due to the lack of any help from MS, and having already bought an XB1, I think MS is pushing me into choosing a PS4 as my replacement console. Nice job, MS. Won't do something as simple as tell me the serial number of my old console.

I dont believe they disable consoles unless its for a ban, and even then the console just cant connect to Live. MS should be able to get an IP address if the console is ever connected to Live.

I have a feeling that we'll see some kind of app come out for the Xbox One where gamers can track their consoles if they are every stolen. Would be a cool feature. And if it is stolen, then the app should lock it. Similar to those apps on phones or tablets.

Since they know the console is now stolen, maybe they can ban it whenever it's connected to XBL. I'm sorry this happened to you, I'd be going mad if anything of mine was stolen.

Good on you for reporting it to the police, that should be the FIRST thing you do. Microsoft OUGHT to be able to track it. Report the serial number to them. Next time that console signs in to Xbox Live, it will get banned. Microsoft DOES collect personal
info about you and your console when you use their service. They even do console bans. You can track smartphones if they are stolen. Even if under settings Location is disabled, if it has certain apps like AVG which can track your phone even if location is
disabled. You can even track some stolen cars too. It's if Microsoft is willing to put forth the effort which can be a pricey device for some (an Xbox console). Microsoft is the world's biggest software company, after all.

Call the police and report it stolen.

MS will not "find" a console for you.

You should also look into how your retailer handles items that are stolen before receipt, as well as see how your credit card company handles a retailer that sells items which are stolen in transit.
