    XB1 reads 360 discs but not XB1 discs or Blu-Ray


    I keep getting either the “disc may be dirty” or “if you own this title please insert disc” with every XB1 game disc I own but every backward compatible disc works fine. I’ve searched google and YouTube for a solution but nothing has turned up that is useful.
    Help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    Those consoles were not mentioned. You said xb1. Do you want or need a blu ray drive you said no. Do you think if the xb1 still used dvd's that games would be 1 or 2 discs? NO.

    ETA Required on 0x80820002 - Fresh new console not working

    Exact same problem here! Bought a brand new console yesterday and it won't read game discs!! It reads blu rays and CDs but just not XB1 game discs! The least we deserve is an ETA!! We didn't buy an expensive paperweight!!

    Your disc drive will fail too!

    My disc drive doesn't read discs sometimes but if I hold the disc longer when it trys to pulll it in it reads them. I've had my XB1 since week one of it's release. It's also my go to for watching blu-ray movies and it's still chugging away. Knock on wood.

    Nope. Due to the XB1 using Blu-ray disc technology, 360 games wont be playable without special programming that they are not currently working on, but may develop at a later time.

    Hi,

    Sounds like the laser in your console's Blu-ray drive has a hardware issue.

    To test if your Xbox One X has issues reading discs, try playing a DVD movie disc. If can't read DVD movie discs either then your console has a hardware fault.

    Note: It must be a DVD movie disc, not a Blu-ray movie disc.

    There are two lasers in the Blu-ray drive, one for reading Blu-ray discs and one for DVD discs. Xbox One games use Blu-ray and the 360 console used a DVD drive.
