XB1 prompts me to "insert DVD if I have it" when I want to play

For Gears of War and "Replay" (part of the three game bundle with a new XB1 - Ori, Replay, GoW) after installing, connecting, downloading the update and installing...any time I want to play either of the games on DVD (Replay or Gear of War) my XB1 asks if
I own the game and to insert the DVD if I have it...??? I already inserted it to install, logged in connected downloaded the update, etc

It's annoying to have to put in the DVD each time. What happens if the DVD gets damaged? Is there a setting that causes this?

Any time you play a game you have on disc you have to have the disc inserted so the console can verify you own the game. The only way to not have to deal with the disc is to buy the games digitally.

 

Thx. I dont understand why I was prompted to verify ownership of both these games after I stallation. Why cant they simply put a tag on it the game was I stalled from DVD to begin with?

 

It's to cut down on piracy. If you could just install a game from disc and keep playing, people would just rent or borrow games, install them, and never buy them

 

it could be shipped with code, activate the code, enter DVD, install, then in the background it switches over to server-based authentication. Code is verified and databased so it can only be used once. Next time DVD is used, and that code is put in, it refuses
to install or play. Easy peasy. If online authentication is "ok" with MSFT, using the DVD as a bridge between old-school "I need something in my hand when I buy something" and new-school "i'll get it from the cloud" is not a problem.

Hell, MSFT already uses unique codes to sign into Live based on the cards they give out, etc. It's no different. The code for the game being on a DVD or being on the server is the same.

 

That's been brought up before, but people don't like the idea of not being able to re-sell or trade in the disc when they're done playing.
