XB1 Power brick has orange light until I plug it into console, then goes dead

Been having power issues with my XBox One, in that it won't turn on. I don't recall a brownout anytime in the recent past, but maybe one happened while I wasn't home? Either way, it's not turning on.

I followed a lot of the troubleshooting steps on here and they don't seem to work. I unplugged the cable from the wall, the cable from the brick, and the brick from the console. And yes I've plugged it directly into a wall, not into a power strip. I have
tried plugging it back in all different orders:

Console > brick > cable > wall

Wall > cable > brick > console

Wall > cable, brick > console, cable > brick

When everything is plugged in, there is no light on the power brick. When I unplug it all and plug it back in, the orange light goes on solid as long as it's NOT plugged into the console. Every time, I left the brick sitting without any power for 2+ mins
to let it do whatever they say it's doing. Reset, drain, bleed out, I've seen a lot of different terms for it. Either way I've let it sit 2+ mins before connecting it to any power. If the brick is plugged into the wall but not the console, I get a solid
orange light, but the SECOND I plug the brick into the console, that orange light goes out.

This tells me the problem may not be with the brick, and may be with the console, but I *really* hope it's not. There's a Microsoft store in my city, but I won't be able to make it out there for at least another week, and that's if I'm lucky. And it's a solid
45 min drive away.

Power supply works but console does not

If I have the power brick not plugged into the back of the console the light is orange but if I plug it back into the console the orange light fades out. The console just seems dead, the point that the power brick workes until plugged in worries me, please
help me.

This was working perfectly last night then tonight just nothing, really a shame, i was loving it, based in Dublin btw.

Try unplugging the power brick until orange light shuts off once that happens wait 3-4 minutes then plug the power brick back into the wall and into the console and see if this helps.

 

Do you have a friend or relative that you could borrow a brick from so you could test it to see if it is the brick or the console that is causing you the problem?

 

Sadly I don't. I'm one of the only XB1 owners I know...all my friends are PS4 people.

 

You could order a replacement brick to see if it corrects the problem. I know that is not an optimum solution but it is an alternative to driving to the MS store. However, I think I would take it to the store, console and all and let them test it there.

i have the exact same problem bro! does the light turn white for a second after plugged into the console? cause thats what i got and i just waiting to order a new one, currently looking for solutions to fix this!!

 

Nope, I never get a white light at all. It stays solid orange, and the second I plug it into the console, it fades out. I'll have to just take it into the MS store. I can't afford to order a new brick right now.

 

Yes you need it exchanged a broken psu can show a orange light.
