XB1 headsets, can hear but can't talk

My son is having issues with headsets on his Xbox One. He can hear others in game or parties, but no one can hear him. I've tried both the basic Xbox One headset and my Turtle Beach XO One on his unit and get the same problem. Also used different controllers
and encountered the same issue. When I hooked them up to my Xbox One, everything works fine. I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

    :)

    Can hear but can't talk????

Have you checked the mic's compatibility with Xbox? Perhaps the version or company doesn't support that specific microphone...

have you done a controller update with the headset attached to the controller? Also check your NAT Setting to see what is the set to. With most 3rd party controllers, they will have some issues but when updated with the controller it seems that it does
    fix it.

If you NAT settings are set to anything other than open that may be one of the issues. Another thing that you can do is a power cycle of your modem, and router and then a power cycle of the console after that to see if that may fix the issue. Also check
to see if there are any setting on your router as well as that in the past for some cause a similar issue.

Do let us know the outcome of this XB1 headsets, can hear but can't talk :)

I have done an update on the controller. Plugged the controller in with the USB cable and tried updating with both headsets. System says controller is up to date. NAT settings are set to open. I have also power cycled the modem and router after I tried
each troubleshoot. Still no change in status of problem.

My son says he's been experiencing this issue since March. I have not changed any settings on the router during this time. The last time I did was when we first got the router a couple years ago, and his mic worked fine. He only told me this issue a couple
of weeks ago. When the Microsoft headset is in, the party chat shows the mic is plugged in, but his voice doesn't transmit. Also, in the accessories tab, the system shows the headset is connected. It does not show this with the Turtle Beach headset, but
party chat does show the mic is connected, but can't transmit his voice with that set either.

His controller model # is 1697, Firmware version 2.3.2385.0 Headset version 4.9.0.0 Both Microsoft.

    Xbox One model # 1540

Don't know if any of this info is needed, but I'm trying for anything.

Having the same exact problem here, the more expensive stereo mic can't be used for speaking only for hearing.. its BS, it works fine before, next time I log on COMPLETELY USELESS FOR SPEAKING. No explanation whatsoever, this is unacceptable, I already have
enough things I hate about the xbox system including the requirement of this stupid adapter.

I have a ps4 as well, never had a problem with them, MICROSOFT can't you do anything better THIS GENERATION than sony? WTH happened. I already went through one overpriced garbage controller too.

Same here. Also just the last couple of months. I actually thought my headset was broken when it first started happening and bought a whole new Microsoft Headset. I've tested it with different controllers and 2 separate headsets. The only thing I haven't
done yet is controller updates and I will do that tonight. Anyone have any other ideas?

So after doing a little searching here on the forums, I'm seeing this is a long standing issue that Microsoft is either ignoring or just has no idea what to do about it. Threads going back a year and a half with tons of documented issues just like ours
with zero resolution. Yet every time, they list the question as answered.

So whats up MS? Is there ever going to be a patch fixing this for those of us who are having this issue?

This problem started for me once again. I have been down this road with MS before. From my own testing it has something to do with things being plugged into the USB ports. MIc works when wired in. Then doesn't work when unplugged. NAT setting are open. You
can try unplugging everything and see if that works. Don't expect any help from MS with this issue. All they will do is send you a refurbished controller.
