XB1 games randomly uninstalled

Hi,

Just had a question regarding my Xbox One X randomly uninstalling my games, have had RDR 2 and ARK both go through enormous updates that look suspiciously like the game is attempting to reinstall itself for some reason (40GB+), they take way too long to
install given my internet speed is ok-ish and have now had both these games uninstalled after cancelling and have lost all data relating to these games. It appears the same thing is currently happening to Outer Worlds, when I try to start the game it tells
me it needs to finish installing, worried I’m going to lose all my progress on that too.

I have tried the hard reset and clear cache troubleshooting options outlined by Microsoft for this problem but at this point it doesn’t seem to have helped. Wondering if anyone else has been experiencing these issues lately as most of the problems with this
seem to have occured a few years ago and I would have thought something like this would have been patched or dealt with by now.

Gotta say I’m pretty disappointed this has happened at all because now my girlfriend and I have to start these games from scratch again and we have absolutely no clue if or when this is going to happen next and if so which game is next to be hit.

I'm afraid if you cancel an update, the game will be uninstalled. This has always been the case since the time the console was released. Unfortunately, they don't give you a warning this will be the case. This also happens on games on PC downloaded via the
Windows Store.

I understand the logic to the uninstall/deletion - I will explain in a moment - but the implementation is lacking.

So, why do my games get deleted when I cancel an update?

Game patches can be quite large and they don't get added to the end of a game. So, if for example if your installed game is 40 GB and there is a 2 GB update, the game isn't necessarily taking up 42 GB of storage now. It may still be 40GB or it could now
take up 41GB or perhaps less. Updates overwrite other files that make up the game and they may also add new files. If the update needs to go in the middle of the game and you cancel the update you would end up with a big chunk of missing data and game that
no longer works. This is why if you cancel an update you'll delete the game.

seems to be odd. You may need to do a factory reset on the console as a last resort if it keeps doing that to your games and try and start fresh. May be a glitch or something causing it.

Haven't heard of this happening before. Maybe you could try turning off instant off mode in your settings.

I'm not sure what would be causing that... Did Ishan8123's suggestion fix the issue?

Same problem here.. Xb1 S controller randomly disconnects, original xbox one controller has no issues with xb1 S console...
