  1. XB1 Game Console Melts Games and I Pay to Replace Them?

I bought my Xbox One at launch in spite of the hype about PS4 because, even though I was more of a PS2 gamer over the Original Xbox, I loved the 360. Much to my dismay the hype turned out to be correct as it was a far superior console with a much lower starting
price. While the XB1 was great for quite some time, it eventually started to consistently crash and lag, in games at first, but more recently the entire console. It began melting any disc I put into it.

I thought the discs might have simply required an update at first, so I'd remove them and put another in and those would slowly stop functioning properly as well. By the time I realized what was occurring the Xbox had melted 8 full-priced games and a regular
DVD, which it was supposed to be able to play from the get go even before the BluRay app. These included Ryse Son of Rome, Forza Motorsport 5, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Middle Earth: Shadow of
Mordor, Grand Theft Auto 5, FIFA 14, and the 2009 movie adaptation of Land of the Lost.

I was on the phone for a ludicrous 3 hours with customer support attempting to resolve this issue not including the two times I waited about 20 or 17 minutes on hold only to be disconnected. Once the process was finally over I was informed that I would have
to send it in for repair through the nearest FedEx which is an hour round trip away from me through uptown, downtown and construction traffic and, if it could not be fixed, that I would get a refurbished (used until broken and then fixed) version of the cheaper
version of the console than the $500 I initially spent. However, I was told I would have to contact each individual developer to ask for a digital replacement of the melted games.

I did so, but was told I would have to pay $20 per-game to have the devs replace them, which is entirely reasonable from their end because it is in no way the developer's fault that the console melted the games, it is the console manufacturer and Microsoft's.
The total would come to $160 to replace all of those games, many of which were multiplatform and melted by a technically lesser console for a greater price, along with an added $20 for the DVD that it melted which was one of my favorite movies as a kid that
I had since I was 13 and had watched a multitude of times living in three different states over six years, the makers of which I couldn't even get into contact with.

I asked if I could at least have the console replaced with the cheaper yet superior model if it was for some reason beyond repair, I was told that it was not likely, even though the price of the console had dropped $250 from what I paid for it originally
and begun malfunctioning after just 2 years. I still have the first edition white Xbox 360 I bought in 2007 and the Original Xbox I got years before that around 2003 and moved from one end of the country to the other with and they both still work better than
    my Xbox One.

I don't know who Bill left in charge while he was off curing diseases and doing charity work, but whoever it is seems to be dropping balls left and right and busting the company and customer's balls along with him. Last I checked Microsoft is still a multi-billion
corporation, so if you won't replace $160 worth of games that your product, specifically intended to play games, melted even though they are already installed on said product for a loyal customer of over a decade, I'd honestly just want full refunds for all
of those games as well as the original price of the console so that I can just buy a PS4 like every other former Xbox fan I know.

    :)

I'm curious to know if the Home Console features and game sharing will work between the XB1X and the current XB1 consoles. My wife and I game share, but can't afford to replace both consoles at once so I'm hoping we can still game share with one of us on
the new console and one of us on the older one.

    To those jumping ship

watching tv can be done on both consoles ps4 you have to pay for the episodes, xb1 you can plug the sat receiver, cable box in to the xb1 and watch live tv and play games at the same time. or snap from one to the other. which i like as i can play the games
while watching hockey or the news .ect

I just used it and it melted, turned off my console suddenly. Very weird. I was able to pay for hours before it melted.

I basically have a paper weight....

Sorry you have this problem but if your console is out of warranty you have to pay, If you have a Microsoft game there is some sort of replacement can be done but not sure if they would replace them with the console being out of warranty.

    Typical customer support?

As deezee said, just take it back to GAME and you should have no issues replacing it. My daughters XB1 controller was faulty, took it into GAME, replaced it straight away :)
