XB1 doesn't recognise 360 discs...

Hi, is this a common problem or is there a known fix for it? Any help would be most appreciated, I've a ton of back compat games bought on disc over the years, and they remain useless as my xb1 console can't read them. The discs vary in quality obviously
but all of them play fine on a 360 console. I presume it's an xb1 disc drive / lens issue but who knows? Hopefully someone here, there's no mention of it at all in any of the support / troubleshooting pages.

My Xbox won't install games properly/doesn't recognise discs

hi guys

I recently tried to install two games on my console. The first game got stuck at 66% and refused to allow me to play it even though my dashboard said it was ready to start and the second game doesn't even register as being inserted in the disc drive (I have
not been able to install it for that reason). I'm also having problems chatting to people online as my network settings no longer allow me to (I haven't changed any of the settings) and the most recent console update is "pending". The install for the first
disc is now 14 hours and counting and its still stuck on 66%. I have restarted my console, cleaned the discs and checked for updates and I'm at a loss for what to try next. The only thing I did recently which may affect things was delete some old games from
my hard drive as I was at 99% storage and unable to install anything else.

If anybody can help out or suggest some new things to try, I will be eternally grateful as half of my weekend has been wasted so far just trying to play one game!

Games-call of duty infinite warfare & Gears of war 4. CoD is the one stuck at 66% and Gears is the disc which won't register. Both games are pre owned discs.

Unable to play blue rays

So bought the xb1 2 days ago.. Got it all set up.. Tried to play a blue ray tonight and it was saying couldn't recognise the discs... So after a few attempts I decided to delete the app and reinstall.. Hoping that would cure it.. But it's now disappeared
from the app store.. Anyone else having the same problem???

 

It could also be that the games you have are not backward compatible yet. The full list of back compat games can be found here

See if the drive will play a DVD movie since Xbox 360 games are stored on DVD, if not I would suspect a drive issue rather than an issue with Backwards Compatibility.

As StuartATrueRed said though, make sure the disc is BC first.

 

Erm, yes I'm certain that the discs I've tried were on the backcompat list. Is that Microsofts best effort? Wow. Er, thanks anyway. Jayadub I tried a few dvds and all the same, cheers for your suggestion, it does appear as though the disc drive is goosed.
XB1 discs have started to become a little wobbly too (took a few goes for the machine to recognise Titanfall yesterday eve) so it ooks like a new drive off ebay is the next step. Seems straightforward enough to me, and if it means I get to play Doom 3 / Resurrection
of Evil / Lost Missions with XB1 functionality then grand . Am looking forward to Dead Space too, I didnt bother downloading the freebie last month as I've a disc copy (which won't load, natch).
