Discus and support XB1 allow to play video from external HDD? in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; Hey, As XB1 external HDD support is now released, does it allow users to play videos from external HDD's?     As XB1 external HDD support is now released, does it allow users to play videos from external HDD's? Would it work with NAS system?

    External HDD question

    If I get an external hard drive for my Xb1 will I be able to install full disk games to the external or can I only put downloaded games on it? Like can I put Destiny or The Witcher on the external and play directly from it?

    No. There is no support for media playback from a storage device.

    Hopefully they role out an update soon which allows USB video and picture support because this you can do on "Xbox" 360.

    Hopefully they role out an update soon which allows USB video and picture support because this you can do on "Xbox" 360.

    Instant On features haven't worked in over a year, can anyone help me get it working again???

    Plus my over 100 XBLA games that I can't play anymore on xb1, and I have 72 games on my xb1 between internal and external HDD. Before anyone suggests it....these features stopped working long before I got an external hdd, lol.

    still have to install the disk....which can take a little time, by the way, whats with the XB1?....I had 5 whole games installed and half my HDD was used up....you'd think M$ would allow for an external HDD to be linked or something

    PS4 also has mandatory installs, X1 can also play games before they are fully installed. The two consoles are practically identical with this. Related to this, the only difference is that PS4 allows to swap the internal HDD, but not external HDDs, while
    Xbox won't allow switching the internal, but allows for externals.

    Key word here being, both consoles require you to install the games and can't be ran from disc only. Both consoles also have a 500gb HDD by default.
