XB One controller Micro USB connection design

Guys we REALLY need to revisit the design on the controllers for connected play. I have had to use it for BF4 due to controller disconnects hampering gameplay and the speed at which batteries are drained with continued play. This design is flawed and prone
to breaking hardware. I have gone through 6 Micro USB cables because all you need is a minor (4-6 inch) drop or just setting the controller down at the wrong angle and you bend the Micro USB cable connector. After a few times, the Micro USB port on the controller
itself will become broken and start giving you intermittent connectivity breaks.

These controllers are sleek and they are otherwise solid but for those people who use USB connections due to the known issue of controller disconnects, having your Micro USB cables break AND the controllers themselves break due to normal use is just going
to add to a lot of unhappy customers. I would see some type of adapter or recessed port in the controller itself to better support that connection as a possible solution. Right now, this is a very cheap characteristic of an otherwise top notch rock solid piece
    of hardware.

    :)

I agree I have had the same issue. Luckily I had plenty of Micro USB leads knocking about the house so I didn't have to invest in new ones, although I think that is going to change. A friend of mine who uses SCUF controllers advised me to purchase one of
their 10ft braided Micro USB leads. He swears by them, and has been using them since launch with no problems whatsoever. I find that quite strange though as Micro USB is a standardised lead that is the same throughout the industry. Universal is in the name
for crying out loud. So I'm a bit weary although for the £8.99 ($15) it's going to cost me it's worth the risk if it solves the connectivity issues.

  5. I totally agree with this, Just normal use with the controller plugged in has broken both my controllers, now niether of them will connect via micro USB. I have been using one of them a lot on PC, with the cable and now it's impossible. Seems like Microsoft
went for the cheap option and now we're paying the price. Play and charge kit? completely useless. What a good use of £60. Not.

I ran into the problem too now and I'm not sure yet if it's the cable or the port in the gamepad which is broken. The fragile nature of Micro-USB was known before so why such design?

Sooner or later this will cause a support avalanche.
