    X1X shutting off when playing Cold War


    I have an X1X and just downloaded Cold War last night, played for an hour or so then it completely shut my console off.

    My controller stayed on and I had to turn the system back on my pressing the button on the console, it did a hard restart when turning back on. This is the only time this has happened with this console and 15 minutes into playing it after that shut down, it happened again.

    I remembered reading about it being an issue with the new gen systems so I looked into it more and sure enough many people are stating the same thing happening with their consoles.

    Has anyone at Xbox or Activison even publicly acknowledged this issue? Do they plan to patch it during the update that’s coming December 16th?

    Hi,James! I'm Luis, a fellow Xbox Gamer . Thanks for reaching us out here.

    Is it only happening with cold war?

    Have you checked for any controller updates?

    While connected with a USB cable:

    Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.

    Under Profile & system, select Settings.

    Under Devices & connections, select Accessories.

    On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check the firmware version for your controller.

    If it says there’s no update available, your controller is current. If it says “Update,” follow the steps provided.

    Afraid not - I've just decided to not play Cold War until I hear of a fix.

    I've played other games for hours with no issue, but every time I load up Cold War it ends the same way - with the Series X console shutting down after about 10 mins.

    I have no idea if it is a software or hardware issue, but I see it is pretty common so will eagerly await a statement from MS or Treyarch.
