    X1X Powers off

    Good Morning all

So here is my story I bought the X1X Scorpio Edition £450 "the worlds most powerful console" when it works, I have pugged it directly into the wall as instructed by Xbox and whilst playing various games it has decided to shut its
self off completely not once but four times.

So reluctantly I sent it off to Xbox for a repair I will say the online chat agents very helpful , it has been away for three weeks I rushed home to collect it yesterday please bear in mind I am a grown man.

Set it up did all the updates got a nice letter from Xbox thanking me for my patience and tried to play COD WW2 and then boom same thing not once twice as you can imagine i am well chuffed, i was wondering what compensation i am entitled too, I have had
Xbox since the very first and never had this issue i did experience the infamous ring of death on the 360, i had day one Xbox one, day One Xbox One S and now my broken Scorpio with no tail it seems.

If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it as I don't really want to send it back again.

    Kind Regards

    Preston

    :)

X1X - PSE Turning itself off

Hey Loodychris! Sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with the One X. Is the console plugged directly in to a wall out let or are you using a powerstrip? Additionally, is the console sitting vertical or horizontal? Post back and let us know!

    Console Powers off

Some wireless routers have settings that may cause your Xbox One console to shut down unexpectedly. For example, a power-saving setting or network setting may cause your console to shut down.

If you use a wireless connection to connect to Xbox Live, try a wired connection. For information about how to set up a wired connection, see the Xbox

Yeah, hard crashes. Many have this issue. Fixed it myself but you'll void the warranty. I've had crashes back to the dash board anywhere between 30 sec's and 15 min and after 5 or so crashes back to dashboard, it'll hard crash, as in turns off and you'll
have to manually turn it back on. Only thing you can really do is keep sending it back if you don't want to void the warranty.

If you want to know of a possible fix, and is handy with electronics, continue reading. The main problem I've found is for some reason the blue thermal goop that MS uses as the interface material between the system
ram and heatsink develops gaps. It's like play dough, compresses fine but will not expand to fill any gaps should the gap change due to heating and cooling or a unit being dropped and the heatsink flexed a little bit compressing the goop a bit more creating
a gap in the thermal interface and heatsink/ram during shipping and handling. I've had success taking the goop, roll it back up into a ball and placed back on top of each ram chip. The only problem is when reinstalling the x clamp, you have to be super careful
as any movement too much in any direction can cause the same issue, gaps in the material and heatsink or ram chips. For this reason, I went with 2.5mm thermal pads, it's a hair thicker than the gap between the ram chips and heatsink and it will compress and
expand as the gap changes. Check the pads with a caliper though as it varies quite a bit between manufacturers. This is important, too thick and you'll have contact issues with the APU and heatsink, too thin and you'll have contact issues with ram chips
and heatsink. I haven't had a crash in one and half weeks of gaming since installing the pads. My son is on it about 5 hours a day since with zero issues. He has completed both GOW4 and Halo 5 since the replacement pads without one hiccup. Before, you'd
be lucky to be able to play Halo 5 for more than 30 seconds without a crash. I've also done this on one of my buddies son's console with similar crashing problems and it's been fine since as well. Being that this has been done on only two consoles, I can't
say with 100% certainty that this is the problem. It's just what has worked for me.

Xbox Scorpio power up after standby issue.

The warmth is normal. Instant on mode is NOT ALL OFF mode. The SOC and memory on the X1X are on the top side of the box now, so you can feel the warmth more easily of the system in a low power state.

Wonder if a system update has caused this behavior.

    Xbox One X

Because the game brings enthusiast PCs to their knees. The X1X lacks the CPU power and disk transfer rates to handle it

    Xbox Series X

It's a new console with an operating system derived from the current Xbox. It has more powerful hardware (compared to X1X) and features of a next-gen.

Xbox One X HDR in 1080p

PS4 got a patch to support HDR - so in itself HDR is not tied to a resolution.

But X1/X1S being so much weaker console, 1.3TF vs 1.8TF, one wonder if HDR require more from rendering engine for games will allow it - unless X1X.

X1/X1S already run many games as 900p to manage the load and keep framerate.

They removed Snap feature, which probably take away power from the game itself - was that because it jeapardize stability?

X1X will be able to run games prettier in 1080p than X1/X1S - if developers care enough about it.

Some visual enhancements like on PC could also be managed by X1X.

But here is where the big IF comes - not much happend in patching PS4 games to all run Pro enhanced mode.

Will they sell more games because they walk that extra mile and activate more shading stuff on X1X - don't think they bother at all.

If we are lucky devs test it enough on X1X to have it no freeze on us while gaming - so both X1, X1S and X1X will be as stable.

The boost mode on PS4 Pro already caused games to do that, and people said they just turned that off again.

PC have more patches due to so different hardware out there - varying graphics cards, processors etc.

So will so different power on same console generation also introduce problems we did not have before?

Devs only have the same amount of time to test things - which platform do they use?
