X1 updates and download speed

I've noticed when I receive an update for the X1 it downloads really fast until it hits about 70mb left to download then it goes very slow.

Other transfers on the X1 are fine and download without any problems, so does anyone know why the normal slow down around 70mb

XBOX ONE BF4 Disc slow to load

What is your broadband speed? The updates for games are now several gigs in size and you might just have to be patient for them to download.

Haven't had an issue with applying updates. Of course you will need to be online, apply ALL the patches first before trying to play BF4 online.

It is nothing to do with the X1, it is simply that games now have several large patches that you will need to download, whatever system you play them on.

Microsoft knows how to wreck Christmas

Okay. Finally completed all downloads and now able to play the games we purchased. Having now started playing on the X1, have to admit it is rather good and xmas disappointment is a distant memory. For info though, my broadband is 7.8MB down/1.75MB up;
that's reported speed from speed test. Forza took 8 hours to complete update; COD took 4 hours. FIFA took 10 hours to download. I assume that the MS servers were getting hammered.

To be honest I don't always take much notice when download console/game updates but I do know in the past that sometimes it seems the download goes really quick to a certain % then all of a sudden slows down.

I think it's quite normal and nothing to worry about.

I would guess that the reason for this is: the first part of the update is downloading and caching files, the next part is adding new files and/or finding and replacing existing files to the OS.

I have the same issues with my x1 its incredibly slow with start up and going to different tiles, highly disappointed with this consoles performance, the 360 by far beats it in speed and quality, downloading games takes about 30mins, I have high speed internet
and still the updates can take forever. Are these just defects in the first gen of the x1?

i seem to recall reading somewhere that Phil Spencer stated they were looking into ways of speeding up the installs, but if you're installing from disc, try taking your X1 offline to install and it will be much fast, part of the issue is that the X1 tries
to download and install updates before installing the game, and some of the games have massive updates.
