I had a gaming PC last year. A PC can't offer the same living room experience that a console does, not to mention they're quite a bit more expensive and more of a pain to setup. I ended up selling mine since I knew it wouldn't get much use once the PS4 was
out, and I preferred my 360 for media streaming compared to the PC that was hooked up in my living room.
You sold your PC in favor of a PS4? All because you didn't understand how to properly connect a PC to a giant TV set up? Wow.

The platform the game is on is surely irrelevant?

I don't care FPS. If it can be done without drops. I for it. But it drops down below it. I think it not ready for that levle of detail. If this means I have wait for XB2 to get it. You eye wouldn't tell the diffrent of 30fps and 60fps. Unless you know what
you looking at.

@24 - Personally I'll take 60 with drops. Even with the drops, it's still higher than the 30. Yea, occasionally you might notice a small issue with the difference, but I'll take seeing a better experience for the other 99% of the time any day.

@UnyoBro - LOL, please! That's not at all what I said, so just stop already "bro". As I said the last time you started a pointless attack on me, you really are delirious. If you must know, I built the PC from scratch and had no issues connecting it to my
TV. That still took a while though to get everything setup and tweaked to my liking. I was hoping for a true all-in-one device, but a PC just doesn't offer the same living room experience as a console. I've become accustom to Windows Media Center on my work PC
and using my 360 as an extender since my wife and I watch recorded TV from WMC nearly every night. I switched all my music, TV, and etc to the PC I had built in my living room though. Having to stop in the middle of a show to grab a mouse because something
popped up wanting to be updated was annoying. Windows 8 doesn't always like to wake from sleep like it should, and it was also a pain to get wake on LAN settings to work properly so I could connect using my work PC and save some MP3's to it. After using it
for a few months my wife and I decided we liked the setup of using my old work PC as the main "server" and the 360 as an extender in the living room since it just worked without problems or annoying update windows popping up, has always been a nice setup,
and it's much more geared towards a living room than Windows 8 is. So besides that, knowing that I would also have a PS4 here on launch day, I knew the PC would likely collect dust for the next few months, if not years. So, rather than keep a $1,200 paper
weight under my TV, I decided to sell it while it was still worth what I paid for the parts. It had nothing to do with my ability to set things up and everything to do with the fact that my old setup just worked better for my personal needs. Keep acting like
you know me there though "bro", it's kind of amusing. X1 patch to free CPU and improve graphics :)

Personally I would have kept the PC and ditched Windows 8 but the PS4 is a great choice as well.

There is a reason that despite having Windows 8.1 on my dual-boot, I spend most of my time in Windows XP.

Actually, I'd say Windows 8 works better in the living room than Windows 7, at least from my few months of experience with a living room PC. The Windows 8 tile start screen seems a little more "living room friendly" than the desktop. I think a large part
of my decision was that, for me, it was just easier to have one PC. I work from home and already have a pretty nice work PC anyway (i7, 16GB RAM, 256 SSD, 2TB HDD, Radeon 7770 just because, plus my 3TB HDD for recorded TV). My work PC doubles as a media server
while I have 2 Xbox 360's to serve as extenders, and it just works very nicely for my needs. The new living room gaming PC just kind of threw an extra hassle into the mix that wasn't necessary.

I personally would have stuck with Windows 7 instead of XP, but Windows 8 came with the new PC I bought last year so I decided to do some research and see if it could actually help. I still prefer Windows 7 overall for a desktop, but it had some memory leak
issues that really showed up when I only had 8GB of RAM in my old PC. I saw that Windows 8 was supposed to have better memory management than 7, so I decided to give it a try. I saw my RAM usage jump to 7.5GB+ on my old PC with 8GB of RAM, but I've never seen
it pass 6GB on my newer Windows 8 PC. I suppose that alone is enough to make it worth keeping Windows 8 for me.

disagree simply because I don't have a unified music and video app on the Metro interface. I have to go to the desktop and pin Windows Media Player to Metro. Which when I use it, kicks me to the damn desktop.

i5-3330, 8GB of RAM, 128GB SSD (where Windows XP lives), two 1TB hard drives, a 160GB hard drive (where Windows 8 resides), Geforce GT640 and a 250GB external hard drive.

I did have a spare PC for media but ended up giving it away to a friend in need.

them permanently. XP still does everything I need it to do and in a familiar environment. The last must have moment for me was The Battle for Middle-Earth that finally made me move to Windows XP in the first place.

I got Windows 8 Pro when Microsoft were offering it for £24.99 and so it replaced Windows 7 Ultimate. Hell if you add something like Classic Shell, you could be using Windows 7.

Fair enough DC. Personally, I almost exclusively use WMC and I love it. I wish/hope the X1 would come out with the same so I can justify the $500 "upgrade fee". I understand the value of money though. WMC works for my needs, so that kinda negates any necessity
for a full blown PC just for the living room when I already have a pretty nice one for the "office'". Not to mention, it's a business tax deduction in my case which basically means any business expense costs me about 30% less in the end. X1 patch to free CPU and improve graphics :)

Don't get me wrong, I do still think the Windows 8 start screen is pointless and anti-intuitive for a desktop. I do honestly enjoy the experience (for the most part) from a touch screen though, but it has a long way to go and is practically a beta at this
point for a desktop. I can only hope that Windows 9 will actually unify the tablet and desktop experience that Windows 8 attempted to do, but, quite frankly, failed miserably at.

I really don't mean to brag, but just because I think you could appreciate this,... You'd probably hate to know what I paid for my work setup... In the end it was a Dell XPS 8500 for $430, but I did obviously pay separately for the 256GB SSD I threw in it..
It came standard back in March 2013 w/ the i7 3770, 16GB, 2TB, Radeon 770 plus a Blu-ray writer. You can't even attempt to build them that cheap these days. X1 patch to free CPU and improve graphics :)

Ohh, 8% more power. That means about 2-3 more frames per second. Wow!
Does knowing that PS4 has 60FPS make you feel better? Even though most reports state PS4 games are running at 60FPS those same reports say there are constant drops. So would you rather have a constant 30 or 60 with it dropping? And again does FPS make the
game you are playing more enjoyable for something that isnt reall noticeable?
