X1 Memory HD 500Gb ????

Hi there

I just got an xbox one, and after installing, two games, Battlefield 4 nd COD/Ghost + the beta of Titanfall nd two apps as in Upload and Netflix. Now it tells me I've used 216GB leaving me with 284Gb!! I'm really surprised lol, where have all that memory
been used to?? 3 games don't take up that amount of space. Anyone that have had the same issue as me? Anyone that knows where all that space has been or r used for! Feels like I been robbed on space that I need for future games.

HD Upgrade query

Just keep in mind that if you repurpose the original PS4 hard drive, you're adding only 500GB of storage to your X1's built-in 500GB.

 

Why do we have to wait for future XBOX One S consoles?

Marketing. Also the discontinue of the X1 S 2TB version before the 1TB and 500GB console are released... since the original X1 already offer these storage sizes, it gave the people (like myself) the opportunity to get a 2TB HD.....

Every HD has space reserved for OS.

Battlefield takes up 34.31gb, Ghosts takes up 39.53gb. Welcome to next gen gaming.

 

Most of the HDD space was used for the 3 operating systems. And a HDD is never as large as they say. It has to do with the way they count the memory.

 

The OS takes a good 150GB. Don't worry, DR3 says it needs 35GB of space but even after the 13GB patch it takes 24.5GB. It's "in case".

Hopefully we'll be able to use External Hard drives soon! Sooner the better cause the sizes of the Installations and downloads are going to use up the space soon!

 

all of this does not matter.... seriously... you can have about 7 good games installed at once..... if you need room.... just delete the one you use the least..... if you ever want to play it again... just repeat the process.... delete > reinstall

but soon we will be able to store games on an external... and just switch them back and forth... lessening the time it will take to play from hours/minutes to seconds...

iFixit's Xbox One teardown lists the partitions as so:

44GB (41GB) - Temp

391.9GB (365GB) - User

42.9GB (40GB) - System Support

12.8GB (12GB) - System Update

7.52GB (7GB) - System Update 2

iFixit's teardown numbers use the decimal representation of GB. Microsoft uses the binary representation of GB. I've included the equivalent space allocated using the binary equivalent in parenthesis above.

My indicator shows 41.6% used and 213.3GB free. Doing some basic math, I find that the total user space available is 365GB. That is the same as what iFixit found during their teardown.

A 500GB drive is only 465GB using the binary representation of GB. About 100GB of that is used by system functions, leaving 365GB free for content.

 

Is there a way how you can delete games off the hard drive now? I only have 80 gigs left.

Yup...this is how next gen gaming is starting off.

Luckily there will be fixes down the road for the X1's HDD shortcomings.

PS4 has the same problem, but you can replace the HDD and put in say a 2TB HDD.

 

I think I have over 280 gig left on my PS4 but Im gonna swap the hdd out on that.
