X1 controllers are barely held together

My Day One controller had the loose side panel right out of the box, I mean it had some serious movement, I wouldn't have sent it back, but if I did it would have been justified.

The left analog stick wears really really fast, crunches and comes loose, does not affect game play but really annoying.

I find it surprising that we are seeing these problems this gen, I have never had issues with any of my previous controllers, some after years of use but not months.

    :)

  2. New Handheld Console by...

"have you guys ever held a regular Xbox 360 controller with a rechargeable battery pack in it while plugged into the console??--Its by far the heftiest controller I've ever held!--Even in this day of age, its still heavier than the N64 with Rumble pack plugged
    in!"

    .

I like the added weight. I don't want to be using a PS3 controller where it barely feels like I'm holding anything, let alone the fact that their controllers are so badly designed is annoying... give me the weight and good design of a 360's controller any
    day.

    .

Consoles get more memory, yep, cool by me.

Controllers get more durable, yes, also cool by me.

Controllers get lighter? Why would they have to get lighter? Are you carrying them on your person regularly?

  3. Xbox One price and what it means for PS4.

Your statement that it will be used a whole lot more. I have Siri, and I barely use her. So there will be people like me on x1 too. and unlessed forced to use it they might ignore it all together

I've got 3 controllers and they've all started to creak a little over time. I've never dropped them or anything - it just happens through using them normally.

If I pick the controller up with my thumbs and index fingers and squeeze, I can feel the back panels moving very slightly and it causes a creaking noise. I've got about half a dozen Xbox 360 controllers of different types and ages and they're all rock solid
in comparison - no creaking/movement at all.

Like you said, it's because of the screwless design. It doesn't really bother me as the controllers still work fine and I prefer them to the 360 controllers overall, but it would be nice if they felt as solid as the 360 controllers.

No issues for me and I've dropped even gently thrown my controller onto the carpet floor. The casing does feel thinner than the casing on my Xbox 360 slim console's wireless controller. And when the controller vibrates, it does so violently like when I try
to drive crazy using the buggy in Zoo Tycoon. But it does that due to what is inside it.

Yes they do have a cheap feeling to them because they're only clipped together. Hopefully as time goes on they will bring out controllers that are actually *** together and tougher.

I do agree they feel a little cheap but i like how light they are. I've had no issues from my day one. My buddy got a titanfall controller and it doesn't feel as cheap. Feels more sturdy.

  9. Any way to reinforce the controller with a bit of superglue and let it set overnight?

Don't be too rough with the controller. The controller is functioning perfect for me, even tho I've dropped it several times on the carpet floor. Try moisturising your hands before using the controller ;P

  11. If the control pad has a defect, take it back to the retailer and get a replacement. The casing is designed to pop off so that you can access the screws but it should be tight and sturdy and actually take a bit of force to pop off.

@Bizarro. It might help with the creaky feeling. Ideally though it want's a couple of screws to pull the front and back plate together, that should get rid of that cheap hollow feel.

Mine literally fell apart in my hands. They definitely have a cheap feel to them.
