  1. X1 and Directv Live TV issue.

I just bought the xbox one. I went thru the setup and everything went fine. I have the following

Directv Genie model HR44-200 with hdmi to the xbox then hdmi to my 2012 Samsung plasma

I have noticed pixalation and and overall muddy-ness of the picture. It looks to me like compression of some sort to the image. I called xbox one support. They had me do resets, change resolutions both on my genie and on the xbox, change my audio settings
(?), change cables. They finally said to post a message here, and sent me a link.

I have posted a photo of the differences, and uploaded it to my website
    here
On the left you can see on the laptop back has a smoothness of the shadow. On the Right there are only 2 colors in the shadow, a red and a darker
red. Same on the dark jacket. It becomes very noticeable, when things are moving on the screen and these blocks of colors change.

Does anyone have any clue what to do? Its very annoying once you notice it.

    Live TV

About once every two weeks I have to reboot the X1, otherwise I get the "TV failed to start error" What is the issue here! Should not have to continually do this.

I have Directv, HD DVR (newest box),

  3. Picture quality degredation, crushed blacks etc. with HDMI input

I noticed the same poor black levels and overall degradation in the TV picture on my Panasonic Plasma the first day I got my X1. I have DirecTV and tried the suggestions here (720p output from DirecTV, don't use HDMI auto select on the X1, etc.). None worked.

I finally found my issue and the picture quality is back to what it was before the X1. I have a Yamaha AV receiver between the TV and the X1. I noticed in the Devices settings, the X1 did not set the model of my AV during setup. It was "Not Set".
I typed in the full Yamaha model number to get a hit on the list. As soon as I did that and pressed A to select, the screen went blank for a second. I then went to TV and noticed right away that my picture quality was back to normal.

does your tv have an auto motion plus feature? If it does there should be a setting for judder. This setting reduces the screen jumping when there is motion on the screen. This is especially useful when watching action movies.

  5. This is not the issue. It looks fine coming out of the Directv box. The problem happens coming out of the xbox. Please see pictures.

    BUMP for OP.

I hate how the XBOX ONE forces my Directv receiver revert to 480 every time I turn it on. It kills the entire point of feeding my input signal through the xbone(which is NOT passive and requires your bone to be on and draws a significant amount of electrical
energy). If a mod does pop on, please help OP with his issue and then feel free to issue the "IAMKONG, please create a different post to deal with your issue blah blah blah Cheers!." Not like it will matter...

  8. X1 and Directv Live TV issue.

Thanks IamKong for the bump, but I am afraid that no one cares about this situation. The compression effect remains, especially in gradient fills. And I've pretty much given up on microsoft or anyone to lend a hand. I've filled out the survey they sent
    and still have heard nothing.

I read the articles you posted. Why would I want to set my Direct TV to output at a lower resolution to my x1? my tv handles 1060p why would i want to lower it? Just curious why. Thanks!

  9. Hey guys! This is a weird one for sure. I'm sorry to see that the consoles are changing the resolution for your DirecTV!

Since troubleshooting isn't working for you guys, the best option is to post this up on our
Feedback site. It seems like a feature that should be added for you guys so that you get the best TV experience possible, and the feedback site is the best place to get your voice heard. Poke around and see if you see
a suggestion for this is already up. If it's there, please give it a vote so that it will move up the Hot Ideas. If you don't see it, post it up as a new suggestion and get votes for it!

If you look around the site, you'll see the completed or in progress suggestions by users like you!

Thanks so much for the suggestion, and we look forward to seeing it up on the site!
