X box x controller does not vibrate when gaming

Idk if this is the right place to ask this question but my controller does not vibrate when I play games .i made sure to have it on in the settings and the games .i only realized after starting to play red dead . I had it for ps4 and it used to vibrate with movement . I would really appreciate it if anyone can help me .it does work when it try it in the settings.
