X box one S - Factory reset before returing for repair

We need to return an X Box One S for a repair as it fails to power up. Microsoft have advised us to erase all our data before we return it. But as it will not power up, cannot reset it.

Any advise please?

I'm afraid there's not much you can do since it doesn't power up.

If you cannot power it up you will have to send it as is. They will reset the console and wipe its information upon its return.

As a safety precaution you may want to change the password associated with the account if it has an automatic sign in feature.

As others have said if you can't carry out a factory reset it's OK to just send your console back to Microsoft without needing to worry about it. If you do have any concerns you could always change your account password online and will mean any console
your profile is loaded onto will require ask you to type you new password when you next try to log in on the console.
