X Box One - Resolution Query.

Hello! Please can any tech-minded gamers give any help at all?

i have recently bought a Samsung 55" UHDTV television, just for the "lads' room" (so only for sport, action movies, gaming etc.).

i haven't had a console in a while, and after research I have decided on an X Box One (any thoughts, good or bad, there?).

My question is, if I use all the correct HDMI cables and so on, what quality of picture output should I get to the TV? Should my gaming be 4K quality?

Lastly, what does 4K equate to (assuming I get it) compared to, say, in terms of 1080p definition?

2560 x 1080 resolution

Hey is it possible to get a resolution of 2560 x 1080. Need it so much! Will the x box one x Support this resolution? regards....

 

X Box One S / X QHD 120Hz output

How can I edit the QHD 120Hz EDID of X box one X?

X box is a reference VESA standard design But the VESA spec does not have QHD resolution.

Who can help me with the information?

 

Basically you can think of the different resolutions like this.

720p - 1080p - 4K

So 4K is better than 1080p and 1080p is better than 720p. But, at the moment there isn't any console on the market that displays a true 4k screen, all that happens is that the TV will "upscale" the image to 4K (but you don't have to worry about that).

At the moment, the Xbox outputs at a maximum of 1080p, which still looks good but by trying different cables you wont get better images or anything, any bogstandered HDMI cable will work just fine.

The best thing you can do with your TV is actually set the display up properly, IE change the brightness levels etc. Usually TV manufacturers just set them up to the highest levels and that's it, but with a little tweaking you can get the picture to look
much better.

To do this you can either just try and set it yourself (a bit of trial and error) or you can google your TV model and calibration settings (IE if your TV model is UE55JU6800, google "UE55JU6800 calibration settings" and you get a site called AVFORUMS, they
always know whats best)

Also regarding on if the Xbox One is good or not, both the PS4 and Xbox One are fairly similar, the PS4 is slightly more powerful, but the only way you notice is if you actually pause the game, and study the screen in fine detail (like Digital Foundry do)
Personally I prefer the Xbox One, but that's down to me not liking the PS4 controller.

 

The only way you'll get games running at 4k right now is with a PC. Xbox one and PS4 won't ever get true 4k.

I would set the xbox to output 1080p, since that's the best resolution you'll get out of an xbox one.

1080p - 1440p - 2160p(4k), is the difference.

 

If u have to buy a console now get the ps4 as the resolution usually is higher in mulriplatform game thus translating to less of an upscale on your TV.

If you can wait till September again get yourself a ps4 neo as it will almost certainly have in games a native resolution higher than 1080p and closer to your tvs native 4k.

Xbox one s will not be any more powerful than the original xbox one but will have hdr support and a 4 k upscaler.

 

Stick with the XB1 for now, there are some cracking deals on the XB1 at present, and then wait for the Scorpio next year, it will have 4k and will still allow you to play all your XB1 games, and as abonus you will be able to trade in said XB1 toward the
cost of the Scorpio.

Forget the PS4 neo and the Xbox S, they are just gap fillers at this time.
