X box one external storage

I need to know what format the X box one S uses for GAME storage because I need to get an external HD and I want to make sure that I get one that has the right type of format or one that is capable to be formatted to it whether it be phat 32 or NTFS or
what ever ... Thank You

The external hard drive is typically formatted to NTFS.

Connect your drive to a free USB port on your Xbox One. The external drive should be automatically detected and will prompt you to format the drive or keep it as a device used to store only photos, video and music. You will need to format the drive
if you wish to store games on it. Just be aware that formatting the drive will erase everything stored on it, so either make a backup or copy the contents to another device.

Connect your drive to the USB port on your Xbox One – you'll find one at the back, and one on the front of an Xbox One X or S, or on the left side of an Xbox One. The Xbox One will detect the drive and prompt you through the steps to format it. You will
have an opportunity to name the drive. If you select "Install new things here", all future games and apps you install will go to the new drive by default. Finally, you will be prompted to Format Storage Device. Once it's done, you're good to go.

Together32 Thank You for the information It pretty much told me everything I wanted to know . I purchased a 2TB HD that said it was compatible with the Xbox one but once receiving it and reading the booklet it was pre formatted with
exFAT and said DO NOT reformat with NTFS cause it wouldn't support it and would damage the drive .. It will however it seems to be able to store game play videos ,,, just not the games themselves,, ,, ???? That seems mighty strange to me ,,, Thank You again

Thanks for your post! The Xbox One supports external hard drives with a USB 3.0 Connection that are formatted to NTFS. For more info on external storage, check out: Manage

The issue is on the x box one.

I have an external hard drive and xbox storage card installed.

I tried moving the game and content from the xbox storage card to internal storage.

Issue only appears on the demon slayer game.

No other fixes tried.
