  1. X Box One controller not always turning system on?

I've been having issues with not being able to turn my X Box One on by pressing the middle "X" button on the controller. I have to turn it on by pressing the power button on the system the other half of the time. Once it's on, the controller works fine.
I can always turn it off by pressing the button too. Battery charge is full. Weird. Any ideas?

    :)

X Box One stopped powering TV on and off

My X Box One recently stopped turning my TV on and off with the console. I have a connect attached, but I have always left it turned off unless I am actively using it., so I have never had volume or channel control through the X Box, but until recently,
turning on the X Box would turn on the TV, and turning off the X Box would turn off the TV. Any ideas on how to get that working again?

X Box One controller not always turning system on?

    Hi,

This also happens to me. I have tried to turn on my Xbox One simply by pressing down that "X," the system won't turn on. Therefore, I decide to go the old way, pressing that X on the console. I don't know, but I don't think we can turn on our consoles just
by pressing that "X" on our controllers, firmly!! If anyone has a better idea how to fix it, I'd be happy to know! But I think that is how it is made! That should be the only way to turn on!

    Regards,

Hello again Metal. X Box One controller not always turning system on? :)

This has been an issue with some systems before, usually because there is an error in the system, usually caused from a bad install, and that bit of corrupted content can cause issues especially concerning power. give these couple things a shot:

    1) Make sure we have the power set up correctly. As I've mentioned before, we never want to plug the system into a power strip or surge protector. A lack of adequate amperage can cause start up issues. If you have it plugged into one of those, go ahead
and unplug it from there and from the back of the Xbox and then plug it into a wall outlet first, and then back into the Xbox. When you do this, watch the light on the PSU (the power brick) and if the light turns white when you plug it into the console for
5-10 secs, you should be good to go. Turn it back on with the sensor on the console, then turn it off with the controller, give it a minute, and turn it back on with the controller.

    2) If you did the above, then don't worry about this because doing the above will do this for you automatically. If not, then what we need to try is a hard reset. Go up to the front of the console, hold your finger on the power sensor for 10 secs, and
let it go. Let it sit for about 10-15 secs, and then tap the sensor on the front to turn it back on. When you power cycle it like this, it will run a maintenance on the system that will look for errors and corrupted content and attempt to fix them automatically
as well as clear you system cache.

Hopefully one of these resolves your issue, if it doesn't then you know what to do. X Box One controller not always turning system on? :)

  6. I spent an hour going through my cords and took my X B One cord out of the surge protector and plugged it in its own outlet and it didn't work. Power cycling didn't work either. It works still about half the time.

How long have you had your system now? Is it by chance a Day One Edition?

My system is doing the EXACT same guys. DAY ONE EDITION too. I noticed after the last update. (July update is the culprit). Thanks! The fix I've found is to put your Xbox in power saving mode instead of Instant On. In power settings.

The Day One edition has the illustrious honor of being The first production fun of Xbox One consoles. Which also happens to come with the curse of being the most prone to issues and the buggiest console released. When it comes to the controllers, this
    is especially true.

The issue now is narrowing down the list of suspects to fix the issue. As the controller works fine in all regards except to turn the system on, I'm inclined to think it may be the console having issues recognizing the start up signal from your controller.
But given the history of the DOE controller, I'm more inclined to say that's the culprit.

The best way to solve this would be to see if you have the same issues on another controller, preferably just a standard non limited edition controller. If you have the same issue, you know it's the console. If you don't, then you know you're going to
need to replace your controller. The good news is your consoles are still under warranty if the issue is the former. If it's the latter, then the controller is out of warranty (as it's only covered for 90 days) and it's going to need to be replaced. Alternatively
if it's working fine when it's on and you have to just tap the front of the console to turn it on, then save yourself $60 and get a little exercise at the same time. X Box One controller not always turning system on? :)

If you get a chance to try out another controller, post back up here and let us know how it goes.

@persuasion - A coincidence is entirely possible. We're talking about 200,000 units over a time span of several weeks, and according to this thread it's only affecting a handful of people. The likely hood is high. If it all happened the same day and to
way more people, then you may be looking at a systemic issue.

It happens with the "the day One" controller as well as the additional controller I purchased. Either way it sucks. Thanks.

Additionally, for all the issues I've been experiencing, is there any way to get a recommendation for the Beta/Preview Program. I'm good at testing and providing feedback. Thanks.

X Box One controller not always turning system on?

Well Update/OS version 1408 (August 18th) update has appeared to have cleared up my controller power on/off issues with Instant-On enabled. In other words, the controller is now powering on & off with console. Now I will be monitoring the controller disconnect
issues while in-game to see if all works as should. Thanks guys! Be blessed.

    P.S. I have the Day-One edition
