    X box gift cards not activating at multiple retail stores


    Today i tried to purchase an xbox gift card from walmart and it would not activate. The clerk tried three different cards that also did not activate. i went to Gamestop and purchased a 50 dollar card there it completed the transaction but when i got home
    it says the card has not been activated. it would not have let me purchase it unless it activated through their system. Xbox purchase and content is not working though it says its normal in the xbox live status.

    Buy a gift card at a local retailer or at Microsoft store.

    Xbox Store Tax ? Why

    so it's strange that Sony has retail stores in Ontario and they do not charge tax
    Nintendo has no stores and they charge tax on their eShop
    Microsoft has stores and they charge tax

    Just find it strange how one company is beating to a different drum

    If you purchased an Xbox Live gift card from a retailer and are receiving an error regarding activation, you will have to return to the retailer for further assistance. If you are still encountering this issue, could you please provide us with any error
    codes you might come across? They would resemble 0x00000000 or XBOS-0000.

    Another thing is your account region Match your actual region for example you have a us xbox live account but you are redeeming an Canadian gift card

    If so that would be why

    It would have to be done at the store or you would have to call the 800 number that should be on the gift card or the receipt to talk to someone about activating the card. Gift cards are sold by third-party retailers and Microsoft has no power to activate them
