X-1 Ghosts Black Screen FIX **TRY THIS FIRST**

Hopefully the mods will sticky this, since it seems to be a widespread issue!

If you experience the black-screen hang in CoD Ghosts (shortly after ther Ghost ski mask loading screen) try this first, as it seems to fix it for just about everyone!

1. Power down and UNPLUG the console, then wait patiently for about 1-2 minutes.

2. Plug back in and power up the console (this will be a long, FULL startup, taking about 2 minutes. Don't panic when startup goes to a black screen for a bit, it's still loading!)

3. Try the game, and if all went according to Hoyle, it will work!

Alternatively, using a "hard power down" worked for me. (Hold the touch-sensitive white logo on the front of the console for about 15 seconds until the console beeps and shuts down.) However, this is not a widely-used method, so I can't vouch for how successful
it would be for everyone.

Xbox one crashing to home screen

Same issue here. Only started happening since the Feb Update.

Issues:

1: On pressing (X) Back I occasionally get a Black Screen (still get sounds). Fix = Reboot (but this is dead annoying)

2: Random crashes to home screen, generally from COD Ghosts (which also always boots and loads a campaign level which is equally annoying).

I am not thinking this is a hardware error, more software and thus wouldn't want to send it back. Hopefully the March update will iron out these issues. If it persists after that, I'll send it back.

Hi MiddleDuke,

If your Xbox is stuck on the black screen, I suggest trying to power cycle. If that doesn't work hold the power button down for about 10 seconds, and restart.

M$ needs to patch this sometime. I wonder if anyone has had to do the hard reset twice? I eventually had to do the hard reset once, but I wonder if itll need it again in the future or if they will fix it via an online patch?

 

I'm pretty sure it's a game-specific issue, because when CoD freezes, other games still work perfectly withou the reset. I've also seen a couple of other weird issues, for example, after the Onslaught title update, the game would hit the load screen, then
freeze on "reading save device," skip the menu screen, and go straight to the cinematic for the final single player level, so I'd have to wait for that to load, then quit out to the main menu. Two days later, it resolved.

Aside from that, Activision support has said the reason CoD is the ONLY game not to work with the Kinect mic (unless you're in a party) is because they "designed the in-game voice to require a dedicated microphone." It seems like Ghosts is just more prone
to weird bugs like this....

 

it has happened to me 3 times everytime it happens i have forgotten to turn off my xbox and have left ghosts on in the multiplayer start screen. up until i read this fix i did a memory reset in the settings menu and have had to reload everything. it works
but this method takes a lot less time. also i heard the kinect feature is the cause for this and a lot of people including myself have turned it off until an update comes out. haven't had any issues since turning off my kinect.

 

this game was built for the 360 and ps3 so its not a perfect game for the one. I will be glad when new games start to hit, i can barely stand to play this game. I kind of want to plug my old 360 back in and play some black ops, i wish you could play older
360 titles on the one. Not having a backwards compat feature blows.

 

Just to address a couple of things mentioned earlier, 1st, it appears that YES, this issue will continue to happen. It just happened to me for the second time since getting Ghosts with my launch console, so, it looks like about once every month and a half
or so.

Also, the hard power down DOES work. You have to hold the console power logo until the screen goes black, then let go and wait until the power supply goes orange. You'll have to power back up using the console touchpad rather than the controller, but this
resolves it.
