www.microsoft.com refused to connect. Xbox Gamertag Issue.

Hello! I am casper, i recently had an issue while trying to change my gamertag, i was linked to a site by my friend on how to change it on PC, i changed my name to "Mixer" but even though the system said it was available i ended up having numbers at the
end of my name. I cant seem to find answers anywhere so i guess this is the place to find some.

Whenever i try to change my name, everything goes smoothly until the end, when i get to the end and confirm the changes it tells me that www.microsoft.com refused to connect. i thought this was weird so at first i thought it was my internet,
i unplugged and reconnected my router i did a speedtest and everything was fine, i wondered if there was a cooldown so i search it up and no one had an answer, well from what i read. Can someone please tell me the issue. Thanks

You could change your gamertag online. To do that:

Sign in to https://social.xbox.com/changegamertag with the Microsoft account email address and password associated with your gamertag.
Enter your own gamertag or select one of the suggested ones:
- If you’re making your own, type in the new gamertag, and then select Check Availability. If you receive a message that the gamertag is already taken, you’ll need to create another one.
- If you want to use one of the gamertags that Xbox provides, but you don’t like any of the suggestions, select Refresh to see additional gamertag suggestions.
Once you find an available gamertag, select Claim it.

You could do it from your Xbox aswell:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select your gamerpic in the upper-left corner, and then press the A button on your controller.
Select My profile > Customize profile, and then select your current gamertag.
Under Choose your new gamertag, create your own gamertag or select one of the suggested ones:
- If you’re making your own, type in the new gamertag, and then press the A button on your controller. If you receive a “That name isn’t available. Try a different one” message, that means you’ll need to create another one.
- If you want to use one of the gamertags that Xbox provides, but you don’t like any of the suggestions, select More suggestions to see additional gamertag suggestions.
Confirm that you want to change your gamertag.

After you confirm your new gamertag, the change is reflected across Xbox, and if there is an additional cost, the payment option associated with your Microsoft account is charged. You don't need to tell your friends that you've changed your gamertag—their
friends lists will be updated automatically.

Are you saying you were using a third party site to change your gamertag?

Or, just referencing a third party site?

If it was the former, I'd be very wary if using a third party site and check tgat your account has not been compromised!

It's xbox one, and connection test was successful but it still refuses to connect. There is no next step for this issue with your link, unfortunately.

Unfortunately my xbox refuses to accept even an internet connection now. The modem that it is connected to tells me that an internet connection is present, but the Xbox seems unable to receive it. Again, i just bought a new ethernet cable, so it can't be
that, could it be an issue with my xbox?
