Wrong keyboard keys response

Numeric keypad was acting weird with Skyrim Special Edition 1.5.97 ever since.

For example, if I would want to assign one of the Num1...Num9 keys as a hotkey to some action, I would get NumLock "assigned" in stead of any of them. I would press Num1 and I would see NumLock in assigned keys list, see?

After installing Windows 10 version 21H2 (formatting partitions, installing everything from scrap and from zero) similar thing affected some other keys. For example,

+= = F12
[ = F12
] = [
\| = ]

or

+= = Prev Track

[ = DIK_AT

] = [

\| = ]

And I'd like to emphasize that everywhere else these keys work as they are meant to work, in other games, too, BUT I saw the same pattern of "hotkeys corruption" in Warhammer Chaosbane. So it's not some Bethesda / Skyrim flaw, it looks like Windows stopped supporting some game engines tools. Not much evidence, I am sorry, but I am no gaming research institute.

Regarding FAQ: no, I've got no background applications added known to reserve hotkeys, no interfering controllers added, got Steam overlay disabled, all drivers are up-to-date and match the US American English, all settings are double-checked and foolproof, etc, etc, and the only thing that actually changed was installing a newer version of Windows and I am sorry for that now.

Is there any way to fix this in-game kbd input corruption manually or I've got to erase everything and search for some old Windows installer?

Globally: no, but partially globally. Quotation 1 from original question:

Gaming keyboard and mapping software:

It's a laptop keyboard and Logitech mk240 keyboard (both pretty much generic and non-gaming and with no mapping software), and both work wrong in Skyrim and Warhammer Chaosbane, and both work correct in all other apps and games.

Short version: it's the wrong keyboard driver brought by the Windows Update.

Along with a large SSD killed in course of another Windows update. Well, "update" is real cuss word now.

When trying to solve issues, it helps if we verify the details of certain troubleshooting steps which may result in some redundancy. We have a few more questions that can help us when troubleshooting:

Which version of Windows are you running now and was that the original OS of the laptop?

Did you install the driver updates from the official manufacturer's website for both your laptop and your keyboard or did you update the drivers through Windows?

Have you tried overriding the language for the default input method of your keyboard?

- Open your Settings

- Select Time & Language

- Select Language on the left panel

- In the Language menu, select Keyboard

If available, select English (United States) - US in the drop-down menu under the Override for default input method section.

Restart your PC and verify if the issue has been resolved.

If that doesn't work, you can try installing the US QWERTY keyboard.

- Open Settings

- Select Time & Language

- Select Language on the left panel

- Under Preferred Languages, if you do not see English (United States), select Add a language and add English (United States). Then select it and press Options.

- Once in the Options menu, you should see US QWERTY under Keyboards at the bottom. If you do not, select Add a keyboard and add the US QWERTY Keyboard.

Restart your PC and verify if the issue has been resolved.

Are you using a gaming keyboard that's compatible with dedicated software provided by its manufacturer? If so, we suggest verifying whether or not you can remap the keys using that program as a way to circumvent the issue.

In this case since there aren't many games that you are experiencing this issue with, we also suggest reaching out to either the manufacturer of the keyboard or the developer of the game to verify if there's an existing combability issue with the software and the hardware.

When you say that a "similar thing effected some other keys" are you saying that additional keys are having issues globally or just in the mentioned games?
