Wrong Gamertag on Xbox One Cloud Profile

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. For the error you are getting

you can try this troubleshooting. Also did you have a profile on the Xbox 360 before? This may need to be

converted to a gamertag profile. With the save data if the data is not saved to the cloud on the Xbox 360 you will not be able to retrieve it on the Xbox one (if the data is for backward compatible games). You need to

enable cloud save on the 360.

You can not merge accounts so he would have to follow the steps in this
Link to turn an offline profile into a live profile then he would have to join gold on that profile for his saves to be put up to the cloud then he would be able to sign in with that profile on his xbox one and go into the game and it will synch the saves
in the cloud with his xbox 360 profile that he now downloaded to the one and he would be able to continue on from there.

But again he would not be able to merge the 2 accounts together.

The only way to transfer saves over is to upload them to the cloud via a 360 console, so your profile would have to be an Xbox Live one, not an offline profile.

I can't find an active support page for how to convert an offline profile to an Xbox Live one, but here's an archive of it: -

So, I assume you would need to convert your profile, pay for Gold/Ultimate, then you can upload your saves to the cloud via your 360, then sign into that profile on your Xbox One and as you launch backwards compatible 360 games, the saves would automatically sync over Xbox Live.

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums with this question. Sadly, there is no way to merge your accounts to keep those saves; however, you can make your local 360 profile into an Xbox Gamertag that you can upload your saves to the cloud with and then
use that account to keep going with your progress if you wish to.

Unfortunately, you are able to link two accounts together. If your Xbox 360 account is an offline account you can convert it to a gamertag profile.

With the save data you will need to enable cloud save, play games a little then they will sync to the cloud. You should then be able to access the save data on the Xbox one. Note not all save data will work as developers change some things when they make
them backward compatible.
