Wow did I get a Wakeup call from Microsoft Today****Microsoft Employees Please Read****

Let me start by giving you a little background so fanboys don't go off on their wild tangents and accuse me of Microsoft Bashing. That is not my intent. My hope is that someone at Microsoft actually takes notice and pays a little attention. I am an IT pro
and have been in IT for over 20 years now. I am at a system architect level and have done everything from end user to engineer to developer to my current position. Most of my work has been on the Wintel side. As far as consoles go I had an original xbox, an
xbox 360 and now an xbox one. I have been an xbox live gold member for well over 5 years. When xbox 360 was the thing I told everyone I could that hands down xbox 360 was the best console out there. Even talked about the cool possibilities with Kinect.

Well I have now been the owner of an xbox one for roughly 3-5 weeks and boy the honeymoon is over and the disillusionment gone. Like many I watched at E3 last year and wondered what some of the people at Microsoft were thinking. To me they had lost their
way and were headed down the path of Total DRM dictatorship, some multimedia drink the koolaid phase, and seemed to be veering more towards an Applesque business model. After the outrage they made some changes and I wasn't sold but said I would give them a
chance.

Understand No backwards compatibility on disks - was unhappy but said I could deal with

Have a digital library of games probably over $500 easy - can't move that, we're told its a architecture thing so have to live with that

Told don't worry you'll be able to bring your digital multimedia content over - some small amount (very small) of compromise by Microsoft.

So I went out and bought an xbox one decided to give it a chance. Let me tell about the over 2 hour support call I was on today.

So first July Update introduces external HD support. Something that should have been there from day one. Well I buy digital edition of TR Definitive edition. I install to my 1.8 terabyte USB 3.0 external because supposedly you can and you can run it from
there. Awesome right and if you want you can even take to your friends house. Not so fast!!!! So I am playing TR Definitive Edition and guess what one small problem. I get consistent stuttering during all cutscenes where the game freezes and I am assuming
this is during data transfer. Freezes right in the middle of cut scene sometimes starts back up sometimes it doesn't. I am told my xbox support if I want to play any game installed to my external I must first move it to the internal. Really...Really

Issue number 2 on this call so xbox one has been out for quite some time now. I was really hopping for something in the July update. I still among with many others cannot get any support for Verizon FIOS Washington DC Metro listings. Is this a joke, it's
not like Bob's cable service out of nowhere, Alaska. This is a major carrier in a major market and yet I still cannot use one guide. Sure I can pull other listings if I want the wrong channels. Support tells me maybe it's not compatible. Not compatible it's
Verizon FIOS how are all other Verizon FIOS listings compatible.

Issue number 3 my daughter had about 25 dollars in her Microsoft account from about 3 years ago gave her points one Christmas for her Zune. She never spent them. She tells me the other day go ahead Dad use them. One problem while in the 360 I could transfer
it no problem, can't do that in the xbox one. So Dad thinks I'll buy watch dogs because Microsoft says any game bought digitally can be used by any one in the household and if not I'll just transfer the license. Again NOT SO FAST!!!! What Microsoft fails to
tell you is that one account on the xbox one is considered the Primary account. Anything bought with that account is available to everyone. Anything bought by anyone else is not. Oh and where on the 360 you can transfer licenses not so on the xbox one. So
from here on out anytime anyone wants to play Watch Dogs I am told by support, "Your daughter's account must be logged in". Come on really then let me transfer the game to my account

Issue number 4 this goes back to transferring content. So you can transfer all multimedia content so don't worry right. Ennnnhhh Wrong Answer thanks for playing. I have two zunes in my house a 30GB and 80GB that go back before Microsoft Music pass was ever
thought up because I thought Zune's smoke the Apple Ipod system and were better over all. So I can play my music videos, whatever I bought on all my devices. Not so FAST smokey. Fooled again. So have a collection of about 70 music videos that I purchased individually
over time. Plays fine on my Zune's, Plays fine on my 360, Windows. I can delete and ever redownload. So surely I can play them on the xbox one. Wrong answer Wrong answer. The way xbox music operates has change on the xbox one. To play content even content
that you purchased and own one must have a xbox music pass. Support had me test that today so I actually paid 9.99 for something I don't even want to prove to someone I couldn't play content that I should by every right and from what Microsoft told us I should
be able to play. Corrrect? No because the model is now you don't buy videos they are bundled with the xbox music pass service. So now not only will I not be able to play content I paid for, I had to pay 9.99 to prove it and I have to call them back to cancel
the service because I can't cancel it in the xbox one.

Oh and currently we have a third of the apps that I have on the 360 and there is black flash everytime I go into and come out of an application.

WOW...REALLY ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW.

I feel so dirty right now. Like I was taken so badly. It's amazing I paid 500 dollars for something that can't do everything I was told it could do and on top of that it actually seems like the xbox one is still truly a beta experiment. It's amazing

Here's an idea Microsoft truly fix all the bugs and let users trade in their old digital content for credit and make your system do everything it is supposed to be able to do.

Because honestly at this point if Microsoft can't make good on any of this. I actually feel that I could never ever in good conscience buy another Microsoft console system and would probably tell anyone who asks me to avoid them like the plague.

So please Microsoft do the right and start living up to the commitements and promises you made to people and treat your loyal long term customers with a little respect and the way they deserve to be treated.

Nope nothing yet Vipeness. I did call them Ultimate. We got nothing done from the call and even the Microsoft employee was confused on what was going on.

 

You do know it is June and not July?
